If you love Chick-fil-A and consider yourself a die-hard fan, then you’ve got to make the quest to Truett’s Luau. The Hawaiian-themed Chick-fil-A exists in Fayetteville, Georgia, and felt like a corporate secret until recent viral videos surfaced on TikTok. If you want a slice of paradise combined with the original chicken that you love, I’ve got all the details to plan a trek. And believe me, it’s worth it!
What is Truett’s Luau?
Regular Chick-fil-A locations are all across North America, but there are special locations that are unknown and only exist in the Atlanta area. That’s because Chick-fil-A was founded in Hapeville, a suburb of Atlanta, and the company’s current headquarters are still in Hapeville. In fact, the Chick-fil-A Home Tour allows fans a peek behind the scenes and a tour of the headquarters.
The two special types of Chick-fil-A’s are Truett’s Grill and Truett’s Luau. The Hawaiian-themed Chick-fil-A opened in 2013, and founder Truett Cathy’s love for Hawaii spurred this final project before his passing.
There’s only one location in Fayetteville. It has a drive-thru, sit-down table service restaurant, and a regular Chick-fil-A side. All of the Hawaiian menu items are on the table service side, and a few are available in the drive-thru. The whole building is decorated with kitschy Hawaiian decor, adding to the ambiance.
What’s On The Truett’s Luau Menu That Makes It Different?
The table service restaurant serves lunch and dinner but has a breakfast menu with some items served all day. There’s so much that catches the eye on the menu, like sweet potato waffle fries. Or who would’ve thought that you could order calamari from Chick-fil-A? It’ll blow you away.
Cult favorites are Tropical Nuggets and the Frosted Pineapple that’s served in a tiki glass. There’s so much more than chicken! Whether you order the Kalua BBQ Pork sandwich or Mahi Mahi Tacos, you aren’t stuck with just chicken.
Side dishes include udon noodles, sweet potato fries, and pineapple fried rice. We ate lunch and ordered Kalua Pork Nachos (with sweet potato waffle fries), the Kalua Pork Tacos, and Luau Salad. For drinks, we enjoyed a SunJoy and Sweet Tea – both with boba bubbles. The portions were huge, and we were too full for dessert, but many visitors were ordering the Hawaiian Bread Pudding near our table.
For breakfast, the macadamia nut pancakes are a popular item that can be ordered all day long. The Loco Moco is two eggs served over jasmine rice with sausage and cilantro. It’s their own twist on a Hawaiian dish!
The kids’ menu even includes specialty menu items. My kids loved the chicken tacos with jasmine rice and the tropical nuggets.
Overall, the food is very different from regular Chick-fil-A items and delicious. Don’t fret, though; everyone can still order their favorite Chick-fil-A items, like the Original Chicken Sandwich.
Souvinirs & Photo Opportunities
There’s a little souvenir shop located inside Truett’s Luau that carries shirts, hats, and baby onesies. Most of the shirts have a nod to the Hawaiian theme and a little sliver of the south, like “Aloha Y’all,” or include the Fayetteville, Georgia location. The shirts average $25 – $30.
If you want a FREE souvenir, check out the postcards! Inside the lobby, there’s a little table with free postcards to mail to friends or family. Bring a stamp and drop one inside of the outgoing mailbox. Or take one for yourself. There are three designs in total! I think this is such a cute part of the restaurant.
A fun part of dining at the Hawaiian-themed Chick-fil-A is the little photo ops. Take your photo in front of the waterfall, sit in a rickshaw, take a photo at the Truett Cathy statue bench, or play with the musical instruments. The whole restaurant is very family-friendly.
Can You Use Chick-fil-A Points At Truett’s Luau?
Ordering appetizers, two adult entrees and three kids meals cost our family of five $75 USD. Tipping is encouraged at the sit-down restaurant side, where the Hawaiian menu items are. If you want to save some cash, you can use your Chick-fil-A app points on the regular quick service side or drive-thru. However, they can’t be redeemed for specialty Hawaiian items.
What Else Is There To Do In Fayetteville, Georgia?
The Fayetteville community is growing in popularity and size. It’s becoming a tourist destination with more things to do popping up regularly. Head to Trilith Studios, where they film Marvel movies, and take the Trilith Experience Tour. Shop and dine across the street at the studios at Trilith, which is an upscale destination. If you want to spend the night, I recommend Trilith Guesthouse, which is a Mariott property. All of these things to do are within a few miles of each other.
