Shortcut Honey Garlic Meatballs Recipe (Using Store-Bought Meatballs)

I love delicious food and entertaining, but I don’t always like spending hours in the kitchen for that outcome. If I can use a shortcut, I will. These Honey Garlic Meatballs are made with a sweet and tangy glaze. The shortcut part comes from using store-bought meatballs to save time and money. They’re great as a party appetizer, or you can serve them as part of a main course. I love how versatile they are!

Serve as an appetizer or over noodles for a main course, these Honey Garlic Glazed Meatballs are delicious. You can use store-bought meatballs as a shortcut and just put together the glaze.

There are so many great choices for store-bought meatballs now. The frozen section has several brands to pick from and you can simply follow the package instructions. You don’t want to buy a meatball that has too heavy of Italian seasoning flavor to it.

The other option is to purchase from the prepared refrigerated foods, in your meat department. These are meatballs that are already prepared for you and you’ll just have to bake them yourself. Obviously, this gives you a much more homemade feel.

Either way, using store-bought meatballs is an easy shortcut and makes a simple base for these Honey Garlic Meatballs.

The cornstarch in this recipe makes that thick, translucent, glaze that will coat the meatballs. It’s the type of sauce that’s commonly found on your favorite Chinese takeout too. The Asian flavors, finished with the green onions, really makes the dish.

What To Serve With Honey Garlic Meatballs

If you’re serving the meatballs as an appetizer, just add some toothpicks with them. Guests can serve themselves and it can be part of an appetizer collection for a cocktail hour. If you want to make the meatballs as part of a main course, I like them on top of Chinese noodles, rice, or spaghetti squash (for a low carb version).

How To Store Leftover Honey Garlic Meatballs

If you have any leftovers, you can either freeze or refrigerate the meatballs. In the refrigerator, the meatballs are good for another 5-6 days. To reheat the meatballs, just warm them in the microwave for 1-2 minutes and stir the sauce again.

To freeze the meatballs, place them in an air-tight container. They’ll be good, and ready to enjoy again, after defrosting. Add fresh green onions before serving.
