I’m on my third pregnancy and it seems like every time I get pregnant, the technology changes. It amazes me how they’re able to provide greater access to your baby’s health. I feel like, eventually, we’ll be finding out the baby’s gender when we take the pregnancy test! Ha, ok – so maybe that’s just dreaming, but it wouldn’t surprise me if it happened one day.
With that being said, the Fetal Doppler technology from my first pregnancy in 2013 has come a VERY long way. The sound is more clear, the accuracy is better, and you can get a digital heart rate reading at home. That was unheard of when my oldest was born.
Neeva Baby Fetal Doppler Review: 5 Reasons To Buy
If you’re on the fence, let’s discuss why you’ll want to invest in a fetal doppler…
You’ve Entered The 2nd Trimester
To get accurate readings and hear your baby’s heartbeat, you’ll want to be in your second trimester. In the first trimester, the baby is too small for a reading. The only way to hear (or see) your baby’s heart rate in the first trimester is to do an in-office ultrasound.
I don’t recommend buying your Doppler as soon as you get the positive pregnancy test, but it’s definitely on the horizon as you enter the second trimester.
To Include Your Partner and Family Members
My Husband came to every single appointment with my first pregnancy and every ultrasound with my secondborn. Now, due to work obligations and life being crazier, he can’t come to any doctor visits. It’s been the saddest part of this pregnancy.
Listening to our baby’s heartbeat at home via the Doppler has been one of the most rewarding gifts. I feel like he can be a part of the pregnancy in the way he was with my first babies. The look on my Husband’s face when we found the heartbeat together for the first time was priceless.
My older two kids have also loved listening to the heartbeat. It’s been neat to show them the process of the baby’s growth, and then they can listen to the heartbeat. It helps make the pregnancy more of a reality for them when it’s naturally hard for them to understand.
Give Yourself Peace Of Mind
Have you ever not felt pregnant? ::raises hand::
Or maybe you read something on social media that triggered you. There are all sorts of reasons that we, as pregnant women, need to hear the reassurance of our baby’s heartbeat. It’s a sweet sound that brings me comfort when I need it most.
I’ve also been at doctor appointments where the nurses don’t have the five-minute time it takes to hear the heartbeat. They just listen for the movement and tell me that my baby is a wiggle worm. While that’s OK, it’s not the best information I can get as a patient.
Having a Fetal Doppler for home use allows you to get an actual heart rate reading. So even if it takes five minutes of your time, it’s worth it to know the heart rate number reading. I’ve been at the doctor’s office and been frustrated, only to come home and get the peace of mind that I need.
You’ve Had Problems In The Past
This one is for all of my rainbow baby mamas. I cannot relate, but my heart reaches out to every one of you who shares stories with me. I know there’s a struggle when you’re pregnant with your baby rainbow, and you’re on edge – just hoping for healthy outcomes.
If you’ve had past issues with your pregnancies, the peace of mind is priceless. You deserve the reassurance that a Doppler can provide to you – whenever you want… not the occasional doctor visit.
Your Doctor or Midwife Recommends A Fetal Doppler For Home
I asked my physician, and he recommended a doppler for home use. As your pregnancy moves into the third trimester, you’re supposed to keep track of kicks per hour and fetal movements. However, with two busy kids already at home, I know I’m not paying attention to every kick.
The Fetal Doppler allows me to double-check my baby’s health and gives me the proper information when I’m calling the nurse’s line. I’m able to share the baby’s heart rate, which will help us make an informed decision on whether I need a hospital visit. That’s going to be great as I reach those last few weeks of the pregnancy.
Neeva Baby Fetal Doppler Review + How To Use It
Using the Neeva Baby Fetal Doppler has been such great reassurance for us. There’s nothing complicated about using it – so you don’t have to be tech-savvy. It has a back-lit LCD Screen that displays the baby’s heartbeat alongside an adjustable audible sound. You can listen to your baby in real-time from the built-in high-quality speaker.
The Neeva Baby is portable with a compact design, so you can easily travel with it as well. I clean mine after every use with a damp towel, dry it, and place it back in the original box. I want to keep it nice for future use. I’ve been able to use the same fetal doppler for all 3 of my pregnanies – just replace the battery.
The Doppler has a retail price of $99, but you can score it for around $60 typically. Here’s what comes with your kit:
○ A Fetal Doppler with a soft cord Probe
○ 60g Sample Clear Gel
○ 9 Month Warranty
○ Free Shipping
How To Use The Neeva Baby Fetal Doppler
The first thing you’ll need to do is add batteries to power it on. Next, you’ll grab the ultrasound gel. The gel allows the doppler to glide over your skin and help to pick up the audio. Pro tip: be sure to use plenty of gel when you listen. More is better than less.
After you’ve got the gel on your lower abdomen, you can turn on the Doppler and slowly glide it over your abdomen until you find the heartbeat. The screen will indicate a numbered reading, too. Baby’s heart rates are usually between 120 – 160 beats per minute in utero.
That’s it! It’s so easy, and we love the ability to listen to our little one at home. Owning the Neeva Baby Fetal Doppler for home has been the comfort I never knew I needed. I highly recommend every expecting mom use one after her first trimester. It would also be an amazing gift to receive!
What If I Can’t Find My Baby’s Heartbeat
First of all, don’t panic. An ultrasound at the doctor’s office can tell you so much more. It could be as simple as you not having enough gel on your belly. Babies do move around a lot, and depending on where your placenta is, you may not be able to hear the baby’s heartbeat as well. I suggest talking to your doctor and letting them know you have a home fetal doppler. They can give you pointers, let you know when to call, and give you reassurance.
