Nothing says summer quite like s’mores. The gooey, toasted marshmallow paired with rich, melted chocolate instantly brings back my favorite warm-weather memories. This Patriotic S’mores Dip is a festive twist on the classic treat—perfect for Memorial Day, the 4th of July, or Labor Day. Red and blue sugared marshmallows are toasted to perfection over a layer of melted chocolate, making every bite a celebration. Serve it with graham crackers for dipping, and you’ll understand exactly why this dessert is my summer favorite.

Why We Love This Dessert Recipe
S’mores makes me think of campfire nights, summer and childhood fun. Every gooey melty bite has a bit of nostalgia. Even with the USA flag pattern, it’s a simple dessert that comes together in a few minutes. It’s eye-catching with its patriotic flair and everyone gathers around the s’mores to dip. Anyone can put together this cute patriotic dessert.

Patriotic S’mores Dip Ingredients:
- Large Marshmallows: Use the large marshmallows and not the jumbo size
- Semi-sweet Chocolate Morsels: They balance the sweetness of the marshmallows
- Red Sanding Sugar: Use a true red color and not coral
- Blue Sanding Sugar: Find a true bright blue
- Graham Crackers: Classic honey flavor for dipping
- Tools Needed: Toothpicks or skewers, 1-quart (8.5” x 6.5”) Pyrex dish or equivalent baking dish (8.5” x 6.5”)

Recipe Variations
There are two ways to make the “white” of the flag. We prefer leaving the white marshmallows plain for that classic golden s’mores look. If you like a true white look, prepare a third bowl with white sanding sugar. Dip the marshmallows into that and use it, following the instructions with the red, to alternate.
Step-by-Step Instructions To Make This Patriotic S’mores Dip
Preheat your oven to 450°F. Fill two small bowls with red and blue sanding sugar. If desired, prepare a third bowl with white sanding sugar—but we prefer leaving the white marshmallows plain for that classic golden s’mores look.
Skewer one marshmallow at a time with a toothpick and dip it into a bowl of water until fully coated.

Let the excess water drip off, then roll the marshmallow in red and blue sugar.
Make 3 blue marshmallows and 8 red marshmallows. Set aside 5 plain white marshmallows.

Let all marshmallows sit for 5–10 minutes so the sugar can dry and set. Using clean kitchen scissors, cut all the marshmallows (coated and plain) in half. Wipe the blades between colors to keep things neat.

Pour a bag of chocolate chips into a baking dish and spread into an even layer.
Arrange the halved marshmallows cut-side down on top of the chocolate, starting with the blue marshmallows in the upper-left corner to form the “stars” section of the flag.

Use the red and white marshmallows to create alternating stripes across the rest of the dish.

Bake for 8–10 minutes, or until the marshmallows are puffed and lightly golden on top. Serve warm with graham crackers for dipping and enjoy your patriotic creation!
