Peabody Memphis Hotel Review
This Peabody Memphis Hotel review is sponsored by Chevrolet. All opinions are my own.
The Peabody name is synonymous with one particular thing: ducks. From the minute upon your arrival, you’ll immediately notice the hotel’s admiration for ducks as well as opulence. The Peabody Memphis hotel lobby greets guests with dark wood, ornate stained glass, gold trim and a marble fountain. The undeniable grandeur makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time, to an era that celebrated decadence.
My Husband and I celebrated our seventh wedding anniversary with a road trip to Memphis. I couldn’t resist the invitation to spend a few nights in the world-famous Peabody Memphis hotel. Hands-down, staying at the Peabody was my favorite part of Memphis.
If you’re planning a trip to this All-American city and the birthplace of rock n’ roll, then you need to treat yourself and book your stay at The Peabody Memphis.
5 Reasons to Stay at the Peabody Memphis Hotel
You Love Luxury
It’s the little things that add up when you check-in: complimentary shoe shining, morning coffee and watching the Peabody Ducks.
From the bustling lobby decor to our suite, everything felt lavish and luxurious. Rooms are spacious with walk-in closets, a parlor area and a bathroom that’s separate from the vanity. Our suite overlooked the stadium and offered tranquility in a city known for it’s nightlife.
The Famous Peabody Ducks
In 1933, an event that involved some Tennessee sippin’ whiskey forever changed the brand. That’s when ducks were originally placed in the lobby fountain, starting an 80-year tradition that continues today with the March of the Peabody Ducks. The 5 North American mallard ducks are a living symbol of the Peabody brand.
Every day at 11am and 5pm, guests gather in the lobby to watch the March of the Ducks, led by the Peabody Duckmaster and a favorite amongst children. That doesn’t stop adults from using it as an excuse to sip a cocktail and wait for the ducks.
Desserts To Satisfy Any Sweet Tooth
You might be wondering why dessert is a reason to stay at a hotel, but once you see (and taste) them in person – you’d understand. The Peabody pastry chefs do a phenomenal job creating over-the-top desserts. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t tempted to take one back to my room each evening. Guests can enjoy the pastry chef’s creations at the Peabody Pastry Shop, order at the lobby in the evening or during afternoon tea at Chez Philippe.
Prime Memphis Location
The Memphis Peabody Hotel is located a few blocks away from Beale Street and across the corner from the stadium. I recommend valet parking during your stay and walking to the popular Memphis tourist destinations. If you’re looking for a little shopping during your trip, the Peabody offers boutique shop for both men and women.
You Appreciate History
Did you know that Elvis signed his first record deal at the The Memphis Peabody Hotel? With history that dates back to 1869, the hotel has become a Memphis icon. For $10, guests can explore the hotel’s rich history with a tour from The Peabody Duckmaster. Don’t miss the Memorabilia Room that includes artifacts and photos from the hotel’s past – including Elvis’s signed record deal on original Peabody stationary.
