How To Make Frozen Eggnog Delight Christmas Dessert
You can make this dessert and keep it in the freezer for up to three months. So I’ll make it right after Thanksgiving and we’ll eat off it all Christmas season long. Typically, I see eggnog ice cream start to make an appearance around October. Many store brands make an eggnog ice cream flavor. It’s easy to find.
What To Serve Alongside This Dessert
I love to enjoy this dessert with a fresh pot of coffee or hot chocolate. The combination of the hot and the cold are complimentary to each other. There are some optional toppings that you can add: hot fudge if you want to add chocolate flavoring or white chocolate shavings for a decorative topping. I’ve added them to the entire casserole dish and I’ve also asked individual guests if they want to add them – just preference.
How To Store The Leftovers
Any leftovers can be placed back into the freezer. I just keep the casserole dish in the freezer while we’re enjoying it, with plastic wrap on top. The frozen dessert is good for up to three months. If you add a decorative topping, you can always add extra when you serve the dessert again.
Frozen Eggnog Delight Ingredients:
- Golden Oreo Cookies
- Butter
- Eggnog Ice Cream
- Frozen Whipped Topping (Cool Whip)
- Optional Toppings: Ground Cinnamon or White Chocolate Shavings
Step-By-Step Directions To Make Eggnog Delight
Make a space in your freezer for a 9×13 baking pan. Using a food processor, finely crush Oreo cookies, pulsing about 10 times or until completely crushed. Add melted butter and process for five seconds. Mix well with a spoon to make sure the cookies and butter are combined well.
Pour into 9×13 baking pan and using the back of spoon, press the crust in to the bottom of the pan. Pop the pan into the freezer for 10 mins.
Carefully spread about 1-1/2 tubs of ice cream onto the top of the crust. It helps to work in scoops, placing them on the crust and then pressing down, not really spreading out, but just placing scoops next to each other and then pressing them together to fill in all the spaces.
Top with whipped topping. Freeze for at least an hour before serving. Serve topped with ground cinnamon if desired.
