Frozen Chocolate Delight is a decadent, no-bake dessert that’s perfect for satisfying your sweet tooth. This simple chocolatey dessert features a crunchy Oreo cookie crust as the base, topped with a smooth layer of rich chocolate ice cream that melts in your mouth.
The finishing touch is a fluffy layer of whipped topping, adding a light, creamy contrast to the dense ice cream. With just four ingredients—Oreos, butter, chocolate ice cream, and whipped topping—this dessert is incredibly easy to make. It’s ready to go, in the freezer, whenever you need it!

Why We Love This Dessert Recipe
Sometimes it’s best to have dessert ready to go and prepped ahead of time. Not only is this dessert a foolproof easy recipe, but it stores so nicely in the freezer. Whenever you have a few upcoming occasion, make it and have it available in the freezer. It’s versatile for any occasion.
I’m a big chocolate fan and make this dessert year round, but it’s perfect during the warmer summer months when you’re craving a refreshing dessert. Even though it’s chocolatey, it’s still light enough for the hot months.

I’m a big fan of frozen delight desserts. This is my chocolate version, but I also have a Frozen Peppermint Delight and Frozen Eggnog Delight for the holiday season. By changing out the ingredients, you have an entirely new flavor palette to work with!
How To Store Leftovers
This Frozen Chocolate Delight needs to be kept frozen. I pull it out to serve it and immediately place it back into the freezer. Do not keep it on the countertop. For the best freshness, enjoy the dessert within 3 months of making it. Place the dessert in the back of the freezer where temperatures are more stable. Add more chocolate flakes, for garnish, as needed.
Recipe Variations
Feel free to change out the Oreo crust to a special flavor, if desired. Try a peanut butter chocolate Oreo crust with a chocolate ice cream layer. Or change out the ice cream for Rocky Road and enjoy the crunch of nuts. Play with the flavors as desired and make the dessert your own. The possibilities are endless! Just be sure to use the same amount of ingredients as listed below– 14.3oz package of Oreos (no matter the flavor).
Frozen Chocolate Delight Ingredients:
- Oreo Cookies: I used the classic Oreo (not double stuff)
- Butter: Salted or Unsalted works
- Chocolate Ice Cream: Pick your favorite brand
- Whipped Topping: Cool Whip Frozen Whipped Topping
- Optional Chocolate Flake Garnish: Semi-sweet Chocolate Chips + Butter
The hardest part of this recipe is the optional chocolate flake for garnish. Skip it all together if you want to keep things simple. Another alternative for topping are chocolate sprinkles.

How To Make Frozen Chocolate Delight Dessert
Make a space in your freezer for a 9×13 baking pan.
Using a food processor, finely crush Oreo cookies, pulsing about 10 times or until completely crushed. Add melted butter and process for five seconds. Mix well with a spoon to make sure the cookies and butter are combined well.

Pour into 9×13 baking pan and using the back of spoon, press the crust into the bottom of the pan. Pop the pan into the freezer for 10 mins.

Carefully spread about 1-1/2 tubs of ice cream onto the top of the crust. It helps to work in scoops, placing them on the crust and then pressing down, not really spreading out, but just placing scoops next to each other and then pressing them together to fill in all the spaces.

Top with whipped topping.

For the Optional Chocolate Flake Garnish: Place 2 ounces chocolate chips and 2 teaspoons butter together in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave at 50% power for 20 seconds and stir until smooth. Spread chocolate onto the back of a baking pan and freeze for 5 minutes. Use a metal spatula to scrape and chip chocolate off of the pan and sprinkle on top of the whipped topping.

Freeze for at least an hour before serving.
