How To Use Disney’s Minnie Van Service (+ Tips For Saving)

Last Updated on February 25, 2026 by Kimberly Stroh

If you’re planning a trip to Walt Disney World and want transportation that’s fast, convenient, and just a little bit magical, Disney’s Minnie Van Service might be exactly what you’re looking for. Disney transportation is amazing, but there are times our family needs to use a Minnie Van, and most guests come to the same realization on their trips, too. Here’s everything you need to know before you book your first ride, including the times when you’ll need it most (and saving money).

What is Disney’s Minnie Van Service?

Walt Disney World Resort’s Minnie Van Service is a premium rideshare option available directly through the Lyft app. Instead of using a standard Lyft driver, you’ll be picked up by a Disney Cast Member in a Minnie-themed SUV. The vehicles seat 8 people across 3 rows and fits 2 car seats.

Unlike regular Disney buses, boats, or the Skyliner, Minnie Vans offer private transportation on your schedule. No waiting for multiple stops. No standing room only. Just direct service from Point A to Point B. To schedule your Minnie Van service, you’ll use the lyft app on your smart phone.

The Best Times To Use The Minnie Van Service

Walt Disney World’s transportation system is amazing and well-organized, but there are times when a Minnie Van makes more sense. Our family uses the service when we’re going from resort to resort, when we’ve got an abundance of shopping bags, when the transportation system is closed (typically after midnight), or when we’re absolutely tired.

If you want the quickest way back to your resort, book Disney’s Minnie Van service instead of waiting for transportation. After the DVC Moonlight Magic event, we’re exhausted while trying to navigate back to our resort after midnight. The Minnie Van makes sense.

They can take you anywhere on Disney property. Additionally, they can provide transportation to and from Orlando International Airport (airport transfers are priced higher). The Minnie Van service does not provide transportation to Disney Cruise Line.

How To Use The Minnie Van Service at Walt Disney World

  1. Download the Lyft app (or open it if you already have it).
  2. Make sure your location is set to Walt Disney World property.
  3. Enter your destination.
  4. Select the Minnie Van option in the ride types.
  5. Confirm your pickup location and request your ride.

That’s it. The vehicle will arrive just like a normal rideshare. Car seats are available for kids who need them, and your driver will install the carseat for you. After your ride, you can select the tip amount in the Lyft app.

One of the biggest perks? Minnie Vans have access to special drop-off locations. For example, they can drop you at the bus loop entrance at Magic Kingdom instead of the Transportation and Ticket Center — saving you time and an extra monorail or ferry ride.

Car seats are provided, and some seats have access to their own tablets for watching Disney+! Kids love it.

How Much Does Minnie Van Service Cost?

Minnie Van pricing varies depending on distance and demand, but it typically costs more than standard Lyft rides and significantly more than Disney’s complimentary transportation options.

Expect pricing to start higher than standard rideshare, especially during peak travel times.

You’ll see the exact fare estimate in the Lyft app before confirming your ride. Consider tipping the cast member well for quality service and extra assistance.

Tips for Saving Money on Minnie Van Service

1. Use It Strategically

Instead of relying on Minnie Vans all week, use it when it saves the most time — like early morning park rope drop or late-night park closing. Sometimes, Lyft sends discounts via app alerts. Keep your alerts on.

2. Split the Cost

Minnie Vans can accommodate up to six guests. If you’re traveling with friends or extended family, splitting the cost makes it much more reasonable.

3. Compare With Standard Lyft

Open the Lyft app and compare pricing between standard Lyft options and Minnie Van before booking. Sometimes the difference is smaller than you expect.

4. Use Credit Card Rewards

If you have a travel rewards credit card or a card that offers rideshare benefits, you may be able to offset some of the cost.

We are staying at the Boardwalk in the end of August. We are doing a quick trip and plan on using the minnievans mostly because we are trying to cram a lot in a short period of time. My question is about tipping. Are you supposed to tip? I read somewhere that the drivers were not accepting tips, and another article i read said they were. Thanks for your help!

From what I've read about people who have used the service, you are not supposed to tip. Now, granted, I'm sure if you offered a tip would be accepted. But I do not think it's in their policy.
