If you love tropical drinks, then you’ve got to stay at the Polynesian Resort at Walt Disney World. There’s always guests sipping on cocktails made in fresh pineapples and they’ve got the famous Trader Sams Tiki Bar on property. Now you can bring home a piece of the magic by making this Copycat Disney Polynesian Backscratcher Cocktail in your own kitchen! It’s served at the Ohana restaurant, but it’s quite easy to make your own version – with the right ingredients.

Walt Disney World has their own team that creates unique cocktail recipes that are served around the resorts. They change frequently with the seasonal flavors, but the popular cocktails are always available. Some of the drinks become so popular that they have a viral social media presence. I think people love ordering the Backscratcher Cocktail because it literally comes with a mini backscratcher! How fun is that little souvenir?

How To Make Disney’s Polynesian Backscratcher Cocktail
What makes this cocktail taste so great is the actual cocktail juice that Walt Disney World orders from Hawaii. Don’t be discouraged though – you can easily order it from Amazon or find something very similar in your own grocery store.
It’s called Pass-O-Guava Nectar from Hawaiian Sun and comes in cans. If you don’t want to order it from Amazon, just look for a Passion Fruit and Guava juice mixture at your local grocery store in the juice aisle. Sun Tropics Guava Nectar will have a similar taste and consistency.

What To Serve With Polynesian Backscratcher Cocktail
If you want a complete Disney night, at home, try making some copycat Ohana recipes! The Ohana Noodles Recipe is famous (people lost it when they tried takin them off of the menu) and the Ohana Bread Pudding is the sweetest way to end the meal. It’s the best way to have your Polynesian Resort vacation at home.
Do You Really Need A Backscratcher To Add?
Obviously not! It’s just a fun touch and every place that serves a Backscratcher cocktail will add a miniature one with the cocktail or even use it to stir the cocktail. Order a miniature backscratcher from Amazon if you want the real deal.

What You’ll Need To Make The Cocktail:
- 1 oz. Meyer’s Rum
- 1 oz. Light Rum
- Passion Orange Guava Juice
- 1/2 oz. Jack Daniels
Feel free to substitute any brand of alcohol to the brand of your choice. This recipe just uses exactly the same brands that Ohana uses. I prefer to substitute the Jack Daniels for a different brand.
Step-By-Step Directions To Make Polynesian Backscratcher Cocktail
Pour in rum, both types. Fill to 3/4 full with the Pass-O-Guava juice. Top with Jack Daniels. Serve in a hurricane glass with backscratcher.
Optional: Garnish with maraschino cherries and a wedge of pineapple.
