Dinosaurs are popular in my home. With two boys, we’ve got tons of dinosaurs around the house and it’s not uncommon to hear “ROAR” coming from the other room. Go ahead and judge, but I let my oldest watch some scenes from the first 4 Jurassic Park movies – with us. So we’re all dino crazy right now with Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom coming out June 22nd. To celebrate, I’ve got a Dinosaur Milkshake Recipe that the whole family can enjoy.
These over-the-top style milkshakes are extremely popular right now. They are known as “freakshakes” and served as dessert in restaurants. This version has donuts, HoHo’s, candy rocks, Oreos and whipped cream. I suggest making it together and splitting it together.
Don’t blame me for the fun you’ll have in the kitchen, making this with the kids, or the sugar high that they’ll be on afterwards. Resolve that with a game of pretending to be dinosaurs.
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Dinosaur Milkshake
Using a bamboo stick, cut 1/4 of the flat end off and push the pointy end through the bottom half of the doughnut. This will help hold up your doughnut on the shake. Do the same thing with the bamboo sticks to two HoHo’s. Using a butterknife, spread frosting about 2 inches thick around the top of the glass.
Roll the frosting part of the glass in the crushed Oreo’s for a dirt look. Place a few of the candy rocks in the dirt. Set aside while you make your shake.
Combine the milk, chocolate ice cream, and chocolate syrup in a blender and blend until smooth. Pour the milkshake into the glass about 3/4 way full and then place in the freezer for 5-10 minutes to chill. This allows for a firmer top layer to hold the candy decorations.
Once the 5-10 minutes is up, pull out your shake. Pipe a flat layer of whipped cream on top of your shake, this will be used to keep the “grass” flat. Place some Green Apple Lace candy onto the top of the whipped cream and add in some candy rocks. Place your doughnut into the left corner of the shake and your two HoHo’s into the right corner. Pipe more whipped cream in the center of the grass and top with more candy rocks. Enjoy as a family!
