How To Store The Leftovers

Once the brownies have baked and cooled, transfer the brownies to an airtight food storage container. The brownies should stay fresh for 5-6 days. Ideally, it’s best to serve the brownies right away. I like to make the brownies a day before an event or the day of, so that they’re super fresh. Sometimes it depends on the brownie mix brand you pick. I used Betty Crocker for this recipe.

Can You Freeze These Brownies?

Yes! I love to freeze these Christmas M&M Brownies. Once they’ve cooled, toss them into a gallon freezer bag. Store the brownies in the back of your freezer, where temperatures are more stable. Freeze the brownies for up to 3 months. Let them thaw on the countertop, to room temperature, before serving again.

Recipe Substitutions

Quick or rolled oats can be used in the topping mixture. Same for light brown sugar vs. dark brown sugar. These are festive for Christmas with the red and Green M&M candies, but you can use any color variation you want for the occasion. I’ll make these in the spring with Easter M&M candies.
