Why We Love This Easter Dessert

Rice Krispies Treat desserts are truly nostalgic. They’re so versatile and can be transformed into any fun shape – like a bunny butt! Make these treats ahead of time and they can be part of a formal Easter dessert table. Yet, they’re also easy enough that you can whip them together as a fun after-school spring snack. The kids love them!

Need even more Easter dessert inspiration? My Easter Bunny Cookie Bars are another great bunny design treat. I also love my Easter Trifle dessert that has layers of cake, pudding and whipped topping. All of these are so much fun for Easter.

How To Keep Your Bunny Butt Rice Krispies Treat Fresh

Transfer your treats to an airtight food storage container. If you have to layer the Rice Krispie treats, add a layer of wax paper in between. For the best freshness, enjoy these treat within 3-4 days of making them. They’ll stay soft and tender during that time period. I do not recommend freezing them.

Recipe Variations

If you want to mix up the colors, use different candy melts. Pink, purple, teal, and yellow are all great colors for spring! It would be so much fun to have several colors to compliment each other. Another fun way to mix up the recipe is to make a flavored Rice Krispies base. Make a Strawberry Rice Krispies base and add white marshmallows with hot pink candy melts. There are so many possibilities!

How To Make Bunny Butt Rice Krispie Treats

Grease a small 9×13” pan with butter or a nonstick cooking spray. In a large microwave safe bowl, heat the marshmallows with 3 tablespoons of butter and heat for 1-2 minutes until the marshmallows get puffy.

Melting the marshmallows in a microwave-safe bowl.

Now mix in six cups of Rice Krispies cereal with the marshmallows.

Mixing the miniature marshmallows into the cereal.

Scoop the mixture into your pan, pressing down firmly with a potato masher and freeze for 15 minutes before using both the circle cookie cutter and scalloped circle cookie cutter to cut out your shapes.

Stacking the circles to form the back of the bunny shape.

In the meantime, heat the candy melts on 50% power for 2-3 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds and pour into a decorating bag.

Mixing the melted blue candy melts together in a small bowl.

Cut the marshmallows in half and use the blue candy melt bag to stick the small Rice Krispie tail on center and two marshmallow feet to the bottom.

Adding the bunny tail circle to the bigger circle.

Use the blue melted candy melt bag to draw the foot prints on the marshmallows and let harden. You want to gently squeeze as you use your hand to guide the design you’re making on the marshmallow.
