There’s nothing better than weekend brunch with a good cocktail to complete it! We love to make a delicious brunch and make a matching cocktail to complete the meal. This Classic Tequila Sunrise Cocktail is the perfect accompaniment to brunch. It’s great because you only need three ingredients. Move over mimosas, because our mornings just got a bit more exciting!

Tequila Sunrise Cocktail Recipe

Cocktails don’t have to be complicated in order for them to be good. The Tequila Sunrise looks difficult to make, but it’s actually quite easy. I always recommend having a good bartender set in your kitchen. However, you don’t even need a shaker to make this drink. You’ve got to love that simplicity when you’re in the kitchen.

For me, this drink brings me back to a beautiful vacation. We’re always enjoying an amazing brunch on our vacations and they’ve always got a cocktail included. Bring the magic of those vacation memories home when you make the Tequila Sunrise.

How To Make A Tequila Sunrise Cocktail

You don’t need to use an expensive tequila, but I prefer a reposado tequila for mine, which is made from the blue agave plant. Use whatever is most convenient for you and that’s already in your home bar. The layers look so pretty and the flavors will blend well after stirring, even though you aren’t using a shaker.

Great Recipes To Make For Brunch

If you’re serving this fancy cocktail, you’re going to need some great brunch ideas. The drink adds a sweet touch, so you can put some savory items on the brunch table. Check out some of these great recipes:

How To Make A Skinny Tequila Sunrise Drink

If you want to make this cocktail with less sugar, you can always use a low calorie orange juice. Unfortunately, there really isn’t a sugar-free grenadine option. Simply Light Orange Juice is my favorite low calorie option and the drink will still taste great. You can’t completely cut the sugar, but it helps!

Step-By-Step Directions To Make A Tequila Sunrise

Fill your cup ¾ of the way with ice. Pour the tequila and orange juice into the glass.

Adding tequila and orange juice

Pour your grenadine gently down the side of the glass and let it settle for a few seconds. Enjoy the layered colors before stirring. It will turn into a gorgeous blood orange color.

Top with a cherry, orange slice, and maybe one of those umbrellas, and enjoy!
