Strawberry Banana Cheesecake Dessert Salad

Last Updated on December 17, 2024 by Kimberly Stroh

Everyone loves a good dessert, but this Strawberry Banana Cheesecake Dessert Salad recipe is what people always ask me to bring to parties. It’s creamy, sweet and the fresh fruit provides plenty of color. Anyone can make this recipe because it’s so easy. All you have to do is dump and stir. The best part is how versatile the recipe is – just change out the fruit per season. I promise this will be your go-to party recipe every time.

This is the perfect potluck dessert! Everyone always asks for this Strawberry Banana Cheesecake Dessert Salad recipe too. You can mix out the fruit to your preference or occasion. It serves a big crowd (or cut recipe in half).

This recipe was born out of my love for dips. I’m always taking a package of cake mix or Jello pudding mix to make a dip. After making my Ambrosia Salad recipe for the first time, I discovered that dessert salads were a big hit in my home. I had to make some more!

I’m a fan because I’m not even turning on the oven to bake or slaying over the stove so things don’t burn. So many desserts are just too complicated. This recipe is taking it back to the basics. If you can dump and stir, then you can make it.

When To Make A Dessert Salad

After my family loved this Strawberry Banana Cheesecake Dessert Salad, I gave it the true test and took it to our church potluck. Several people asked me for the recipe and I didn’t take home any leftovers. This recipe makes a HUGE batch. You can easily serve 32 people with the recipe. If you’re making it for just your family, cut it in half. I’ve made it for summer BBQ’s, potlucks, PTA meetings and brunch get-togethers. Just make it 1-2 hours ahead of time so it has plenty of time to chill.

How To Make A Dessert Salad Ahead Of Time

You’ll want to give it at least one hour to chill in the refrigerator. So make it 1-2 hours ahead of your event time. It can chill overnight in the refrigerator, but you’ll want to serve it as soon as possible since it has fresh fruit. The bananas do brown slightly, the longer it sits.

Recipe Variations

I love to make it with strawberries and blueberries for patriotic holidays. Berries, bananas and grapes work really well in the recipe. Citrus won’t work as well.

If you’re watching your sugar, or you’re diabetic, you can still enjoy this salad while cutting back the carbs. I use Sugar-Free Jello Instant Cheesecake filling, take away the bananas for a different berry and use a low-sugar vanilla yogurt option. It still tastes fantastic too!

Strawberry Banana Cheesecake Dessert Salad Ingredients:

  • Jello Cheesecake Filling: Sugar-Free or Regular works.
  • Strawberries: Buy the berries fresh, when they’re in season.
  • Bananas: Purchase bananas that are slightly ripe.
  • Cool Whip: Sugar-Free or Regular
  • Vanilla Yogurt: Full Fat (not plain)
  • Miniature Marshmallows

How To Store Leftovers

Use an air-tight container to store leftovers. You’ll want to enjoy leftovers the next day since the bananas will brown. For the best freshness, enjoy the salad within 1-3 days of making it. You cannot freeze this dessert for future consumption because the texture will change.
