I started cooking my turkey in the slow cooker because it was so much less work. I love that you can prepare it and forget about it. You open the slow cooker to a warm and flavorful piece of meat. Our whole family enjoys this recipe. My Husband likes it so much that I started making it year round- not just for Thanksgiving.

What To Serve With Slow Cooker Turkey Breast

I’m a meat and potatoes type of gal. If you’re making this for the holiday season, you’ll want some traditional side dishes. The good news is, your turkey cooks itself and you can focus on the side dishes if you want. These are some of my favorites:

How Many People Does A Boneless Turkey Breast Serve?

For the most part, a 6-7lb. turkey breast will feed 5-6 people. If you’re wondering how much turkey you’ll need per person, you can calculate it: number of guests x 1.25. So six guests will need a 7.5lb. turkey. You can also do two turkey breasts and double the recipe, in a larger slow cooker.

How To Thaw A Boneless Turkey Breast From Frozen

You should be able to check out the package label for thawing instructions. I always purchase Butterball Turkey Breasts and they have thawing instructions.

If your breast came frozen, here’s the rule of thumb: every 4 pounds of frozen turkey will need 24 hours of thawing time before it’s ready to cook. The safest and easiest way to thaw a turkey breast is to keep it in its original packaging in the refrigerator, on a tray, for the allotted time. The tray can catch any juices.
