Located five hours from Atlanta and three from Orlando, are the Golden Isles of Georgia. They sit on the Atlantic coast and these islands are true gems for vacationing families. In particular, St. Simons Island has been a favorite for tourists. If you’re planning a family St. Simons vacation, The King and Prince Resort is the top destination for a quality beachfront stay. From the Southern hospitality to the decadent cuisine, see why The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort is my new favorite.

Accommodations for Every Family

The King and Prince Resort has been serving guests for 82 years and is a historic hotel. The main building was once used as a dance hall, but now they welcome guests with first-class service and modern amenities. The resort sprawls along the coastline with several buildings to accommodate families. They offer 28 different rooms that boast different qualities – from beachfront views to pet-friendly and multi-bedroom.

My beachfront room was clean and featured modern amenities to keep me comfortable. I loved that I could sleep with the sliding door open, but a screen was available to keep pests out. A separate vanity area makes mornings easier and there’s a mini-fridge in each room.

Pro-tip: Don’t let the different types of rooms overwhelm you. Staff is available to answer any questions you have while booking, when you call (800) 342-0212.

Above Average Service

I felt so welcomed by the King and Prince staff. You’re immediately taken care of upon arrival and treated like royalty. The resort is family owned and it’s clear they haven’t lost sight of being all about service. Several resort employees shared their story of working for the resort for many years. It’s refreshing to see employees that love their workplace, enjoy taking care of guests and little turnover.

Plenty To Do at The King and Prince

The resort is located within minutes of popular St. Simons shopping and dining destinations, but everything you need is on property. My favorite spot was under one of the pergolas by the pools. The pools overlook the ocean and collect a nice breeze.

If swimming isn’t your thing, they have an award-winning golf course and spa. The rolling golf course is a guest favorite and golfers can play under the island’s famous live oaks and by marshland. Other amenities include a fitness center and tennis courts.

Another pre-dinner activity is to enjoy is a cocktail in the bustling lobby. You can enjoy the views or relax by the fireplace.

Quality Southern Dining at ECHO

During the 2013 makeover, the King and Prince added a beachfront dining option – ECHO. The restaurant offers  Southern coastal cuisine in a casual atmosphere. The Executive Chef, James Flack, carefully procures a custom menu that features fresh caught seafood and farm-to-table ingredients. If you’re looking for a meat option, the Venison Tornados are a can’t miss from the dinner menu. The fresh seafood options are prepared to your liking.

If you’re looking for a weekend getaway from Atlanta, the King and Prince is a great option for families. Even though there is plenty to do on St. Simons Island, you’ll have a hard time leaving the poolside. Their busy season ranges from Spring – August, but going in October proved that Fall is another awesome time to go.

I genuinely can’t wait to plan our next trip to the King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort!
