There are so many perks to staying on property at Walt Disney World and the resorts are beautiful. The newest Disney Vacation Club property is the Riviera Resort and it offers families luxe accommodations in a prime location near Epcot. While it’s striking exterior is reason enough to book your stay, I’m going to breakdown the top reasons our family loved staying there. Check out the “extras” and see why you should consider it as an option for your next vacation.
10 Reasons To Stay At Disney World’s Riviera Resort
It’s On Disney’s Skyliner
It’s only fitting that Disney World’s newest resort is part of Disney’s Skyliner, which is the newest mode of transportation. The Skyliner is a convenient way to travel between the Riviera Resort, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, Caribbean Beach Resort, Pop Century Resort and Art of Animation Resort. It’s a quick way to travel on property and you’ll experience some phenomenal views of WDW property.
Full Range Of Guest Accommodations
When Disney built the Riviera Resort, they really kept all size parties in mind. Unique to the resort, Imagineers designed the NEW Tower Studios. They’re micro-size rooms that are designed for two people. They maximize efficiency with built-in microwaves, refrigerator and drawers. It’s then completed with a pull-down queen size bed. All of the accommodations offered on the property include:
- Deluxe Studios
- 1-Bedroom Villas
- 2-Bedroom Villas
- 3-Bedroom Grand Villas
- Tower Studios
Guest Rooms Are Designed To Maximize Use Of Space
I’ve toured a 3-bedroom suite at Riviera and our family of four has stayed in a studio suite. While the 3-bedroom is beautiful and boasts a huge gourmet kitchen, I am most impressed with how Disney designed the studio suite space. Every nook and cranny has been carefully planned. There is under-the-bed storage space for your luggage, built-in drawers and pocket doors.
Topolino’s Terrace Restaurant: Character Dining + Signature Dining
One of the most delicious reasons to stay at Disney’s Riviera Resort is Topolino’s Terrace. The restaurant is located on the top floor and offers panoramic views of the resort. In the morning, guests can enjoy character dining for breakfast. At night, the restaurant reopens as a signature dining restaurant with rustic Italian offerings. Check out my full Topolino’s Terrace Dinner Review article before booking your dining reservations.
The Pool Area Offers Fun For All Ages
The Riviera Resort has a vast outdoor area that leads to a European inspired pool area. There’s a large splash pad area where kids can play and a larger pool that has waterslides for those who want a bit of thrill. Guests can nosh on poolside Italian gelato that you can order directly from Cast Members at a food cart. Nearby, there’s also a beachside lounge area around the lake too.
Embark On An Artistic Scavenger Hunt
The beauty of the Riviera Resort goes far beyond the exterior areas. Guests can appreciate art that’s inspired by Disney films all throughout the guest room corridors. It was one of the many things our family really loved about staying there. Each of us found our favorites. If you’re looking for a fun resort activity, ask the front desk for a scavenger hunt that will lead your family around the resort to find all of the art. At the end, you can collect a small prize upon completion – kids love it.
Le Petite Cafe At Riviera Resort
On the main floor, adjacent from the hotel’s lobby, guests can enjoy specialty cocktails and baked items from Le Petite Cafe. It’s a French-inspired cafe that features unique seasonal cupcakes, cheesecakes, pastries and cakes. Alcoholic offerings range from $7.50 (beer) to $14.00 (wine) per serving. Guests can use the Disney Dining Plan snack credits. It’s a great afternoon snack option after returning from the parks or a quick place to grab a pastry to enjoy while waiting for the resort buses.
Movies & Morning Yoga
Many Walt Disney World guests tend to forget about the awesome resort activities that are offered on property. Upon check-in at the Riviera, be sure to grab a calendar of events for the resort. On select mornings, near the pool, they offer group yoga classes. In the evenings, guests can enjoy outdoor movies experiences. It’s worth taking a break from the parks to explore everything the resort has to offer.
It’s A Disney Vacation Club Resort
If you’re not a Disney Vacation Club Member and it’s something that you’re interested in, they have an open house area where guests can tour a 2-bedroom villa. Currently, if you’re buying into DVC directly, it’s the home resort that they’re now selling (because it’s the newest). Anyone can pay out-of-pocket to pay for a night at the Riviera, but it’s a great opportunity to learn more about DVC resorts and what it means to be a member.
Riviera Resort Has Double The Fireworks
The Riviera Resort is located in the Epcot area. While it isn’t located as close to fireworks as some Magic Kingdom area resorts, you can still view the nightly fireworks from Hollywood Studios and Epcot parks. The best viewing area for guests to enjoy the fireworks is at the Topolino’s Terrace rooftop deck. It’s right outside the restaurant and offers a lounge area. Most of the time (during evening hours), they also have an outdoor bartender to help serve guests a cocktail. It’s the perfect way to cap off a day at the Riviera Resort.
