Take A Hike
Pigeon Forge is home to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. While there are some A-list celebrities who represent Pigeon Forge entertainment venues, I tend to love the local celebrities. Enjoy the great views along the hiking trails, enjoy the sights and sounds of nature or experience Southern Appalachian mountain culture.
The best part of this popular National Park is how it varies from each season. You can experience the foliage color change during the fall, the fresh blooms of springtime or a crisp white snowfall of winter. We had a mama bear sighting, saw elk from afar and our kids love the Junior Ranger program!
Enjoy World-Class Entertainment
Craving a dinner show? Pigeon Forge loves to put on a great show. There are plenty of family-friendly options that offer memorable entertainment that everyone will love. Of course, with Dollywood in town, you can always experience the amazing stunts of Dolly Parton’s Stampede. The dinner show has over thirty majestic horses and special effects.
If belly-laughs and a knee-slappin’ good time is what you’re looking for, our family loves the Hatfield and McCoy Dinner Feud. The comedy of a classic family-feud, in true mountain-style, is paired against singing and dancing. Your family will love the fried chicken and keep coming back for the laughs.
Shop Around Town
You can find big brand names in the small town of Pigeon Forge. Whether you’re looking for something unique to Tennessee or boutique shopping, you can find it in the The Island in Pigeon Forge. The area offers entertainment for the kids, plenty of shopping, dining options and it’s a great place to sip a cocktail while people watching.
It’s a great place to find souvenirs from the area, local art, homemade sweets and hand-crafted artisan jewelry. Reserve an evening on your vacation itinerary for this all-in-one attraction.
I love a great theme park and I think Dollywood might be the friendliest one there is! Dolly Parton put a lot of love into her creation of Dollywood and it’s a beloved spot for locals. Walk around and enjoy the live music, thrill rides and specialty foods that are unique to the park.
New for 2019, Wildwood Grove is the park’s largest expansion. The area offers plenty for little ones while the newest roller coaster, Dragon Flier, offers a fast and exciting ride against the mountain backdrop.
Be sure to ask where to find the famous Cinnamon Bread – you can’t miss out on this gooey, sweet and warm treat!
Rest and Relax At Country Cascades
There are plenty of lodging options in Pigeon Forge, but our family truly enjoyed the excitement of Country Cascades. The resort offers spectacular views and a waterpark that’s designed with kids in mind. It’s conveniently located to all of the parkway attractions and guest services can even help with all of your planning needs.
Best of all, Country Cascades offers moderate pricing that can easily fit into your vacation budget. It’s also a great destination for a family reunion if you’re looking for multi-room suites.
With the Pigeon Forge’s close proximity to so many cities, it can easily be a weekend getaway! You’ll be amazed that there’s so much to do while minutes away you can escape from everything to enjoy the solidarity of nature. Your Pigeon Forge family vacation will be full of unforgettable fun that every generation will enjoy!
