The Atlanta Food Tour That Blends History With Dining

Last Updated on June 18, 2026 by Kimberly Stroh

Atlanta’s food scene continues to evolve, and one local company is using culinary experiences to help visitors and residents connect with the city in a more meaningful way. Gastro Tours Atlanta, a locally owned food tour company, combines local history with the city’s best bites.

The tours showcase Atlanta’s thriving culinary landscape, support local businesses, and offer a dynamic way for tourists to explore the city. I experienced the Late Night Luxe tour and, as an Atlanta resident, discovered a new side of Midtown Atlanta.

A Love Letter to Atlanta Through Food

Founded by Marquavius Lampkin, a former United States Marine Corps Reserve food service specialist with extensive hospitality experience, Gastro Tours Atlanta was created to offer a different perspective on the city. Rather than focusing solely on popular attractions, the company combines food, local history, and storytelling. Guests experience Atlanta’s neighborhoods in a deeper way.

Since launching in 2025, Gastro Tours Atlanta has developed guided walking tours throughout some of the city’s most recognizable districts. This includes Midtown, Downtown, and Buckhead. Each tour features multiple restaurant stops, specialty cocktails or mocktails, and insights into the area’s history and culture.

Food becomes the bridge between culture, conversation, hospitality, and community,” Lampkin said. “We want guests to leave understanding Atlanta differently than when they arrived.”

New “Late Night Luxe” Tour Showcases Midtown After Dark

Coinciding with its one-year anniversary celebration, Gastro Tours Atlanta has launched a new evening-focused experience called Late Night Luxe. I had a chance to take the tour. It’s an elevated, progressive dining experience with three Midtown restaurant stops. One for an appetizer, one for the main course, and one for dessert.

It’s a treat to experience Atlanta’s upscale nightlife, paired with globally curated dishes, handcrafted cocktails, and elevated social settings. As a group, we walked from restaurant to restaurant, seeing the lights of Midtown Atlanta after dark.

It’s a tour that appeals to both visitors and local residents looking for a unique night out. Marquavius ensures each tour is unique by switching the participating restaurants, which also allows new restaurants to be showcased. The partnership between Gastro Tours Atlanta and local restaurateurs is mutually beneficial.

Gastro Tours Atlanta Grows Alongside The City

With Atlanta preparing to welcome increased international visitors and major global sporting events in the coming years, experiential tourism operators are expected to play an important role in helping travelers connect with the city’s culture.

Gastro Tours Atlanta aims to be part of that conversation by introducing guests to the restaurants, neighborhoods, and stories that define the city. Through guided food experiences and community-focused storytelling, the company continues to build on its mission of showcasing Atlanta one bite at a time.
