There’s something extra special about experiencing the parks after dark, and for Disney Vacation Club Members, that magic comes with a private twist. Moonlight Magic is an exclusive, complimentary after-hours event just for eligible DVC Members and their guests, offering shorter wait times, rare character meet-and-greets, special entertainment, and plenty of complimentary treats. We’ve been members since 2014, and know it’s one of the most coveted perks of membership.
It feels like having the park almost to yourself. If you’ve ever wondered whether Moonlight Magic is worth planning your trip around, here’s everything you need to know.

What is Moonlight Magic?

Moonlight Magic is a complimentary, after-hours event exclusively for eligible Disney Vacation Club Members and their guests, held on select nights at Walt Disney World and sometimes at Disneyland Resort. During these special evenings, the park closes to the general public and reopens just for registered DVC Members, creating a lower-crowd atmosphere with significantly shorter wait times.
Guests can enjoy popular attractions, rare character meet-and-greets, exclusive entertainment, event-only photo opportunities, and complimentary snacks like ice cream, popcorn, and bottled beverages. It’s one of the most popular DVC perks because it blends the excitement of an after-hours party with the added bonus of feeling like you have the park almost to yourself.
Our family lines up right when they let DVC Members in, typically around 4 p.m., to ensure we get the full allotted time to attend. The event runs from 4 pm to midnight most of the time.
Who is Eligable to Attend DVC Moonlight Magic?

In short, you need to be a Disney Vacation Member. However, that doesn’t mean there are only DVC Members in attendance. DVC is the Disney timeshare program.
Eligibility for Moonlight Magic is limited to eligible Disney Vacation Club Members with a qualifying ownership interest, along with the guests listed on their resort reservation. The Member must have a confirmed DVC stay at a Walt Disney World or Disneyland Resort hotel on the date of the event to register during the first priority window. Other members, without a reservation, can register during the second window.
Events often fill quickly. All attendees must be linked to the Member’s account. Want to be in the park before the event? Guests who do must have valid theme park admission for that day.
Everything Included at Disney’s Moonlight Magic DVC Events

We knew we wanted to experience Moonlight Magic, but we had no clue what to expect. It was the elusive ticket we had to get our hands on. The unlimited snacks, like Mickey Ice Cream Bars, were a big hit with my kids. It’s nice to feel some Disney pampering without paying.
The event is packed with exclusive perks, just for Members of the Disney Vacation Club:
- Guests can enjoy select attractions with significantly shorter wait times, including headliners that are typically hard to ride during regular park hours
- Rare character meet-and-greets,
- Special entertainment offerings & event-only photo opportunities
- Complimentary snacks are a fan favorite: unlimited treats like Mickey ice cream bars, popcorn, and bottled beverages available throughout the night
- Snack vouchers can be used at quick service locations
Tips For Securing Moonlight Magic Tickets & Registration

Scoring a spot at Moonlight Magic can be just as exciting as the event itself, or maybe a bit stressful. It’s because these complimentary tickets are in high demand and have limited availability. First, mark your calendar for the official registration release dates and aim to log into your Disney Vacation Club Member Portal right before registration opens.
Having your membership information and resort reservation details ready ahead of time will save precious minutes during sign-up. If you are staying at a DVC resort during the event dates, you will typically receive an early registration window. Plan your trip accordingly and link your reservation to your My Disney Experience account as soon as possible.
We tried twice to get tickets. Our reservation was linked to our DVC account, but I wasn’t quick enough during the initial registration. My husband secured our tickets during the second registration phase and got them in time! Ironically, we selected our vacation dates before learning about Moonlight Magic at Animal Kingdom. Some DVC Members plan their trips exclusively around the events, hoping to secure tickets.
Is Moonlight Magic Worth It?
We love being Disney Vacation Club Members and, with the cost of the membership, I try to take advantage of as many perks as possible. It’s absolutely worth it. Free park admission, after-hours perks, and complimentary snacks are rare. If you have an opportunity to attend (even if you aren’t a member and just have a hookup), I’d definitely go!
