Last Updated on July 20, 2025 by Kimberly Stroh

Atlanta parents are on a never-ending quest for family fun and Sloomoo Institute Atlanta is a sensory museum experience located in the heart of Buckhead. This interactive slime museum is designed for kids and adults alike, offering hands-on exhibits that blend art, science, and play. It’s screen-free fun that’s designed with families in mind, but is it worth the price tag? Let’s break it down.

Sloomoo Institute Atlanta: The slime museum
Sloomoo Institute Atlanta is located in Buckhead and offers fun indoor educational play.

What Is Sloomoo Institute Atlanta?

Sloomoo is recognized as the world’s first museum dedicated to slime. If you remember the height of slime popularity, parents were learning to make slime at home for kids. Kitchens turned to science labs, glue sales soared and contact lens solution was regularly added to grocery lists. Kids absolutely love slime.

From walking through a lake of slime to customizing your own unique creation at the DIY slime bar, Sloomoo engages all five senses with vibrant colors, playful textures, captivating scents, and immersive soundscapes. The museum takes the ordinary idea of slime and makes it educational. It’s absolutely brilliant and creative.

What To Expect During Your Visit

With convenient ticket options, sensory-friendly sessions, and free onsite parking, it’s no wonder the Sloomoo Institute is quickly becoming a favorite among Atlanta families and tourists alike. Tickets can be secured online and a waiver is signed. Sloomoo showcases every possible way to interact with slime: from slime walls to making your own slime. Almost all of you senses (besides taste) are engaged. I took my 4-year-old, 8-year-old and 11-year-old to visit. Regardless of their age gap, they all found it enjoyable.

I love the visit because it lets my kids interact in a creative and educational way that is NOT making a mess in my home. I do recommend dressing comfortably and wearing play clothes. We left the museum slime-free, but it doesn’t mean messes can’t happen.

We did a self-guided tour throughout the museum, touring at our own pace. I love how Sloomoo connects STEM to slime. Kids learn about the science of making slime and the different properties slime can have.

What Included With Your Sloomoo Ticket:

Tickets to the Sloomoo Institute Atlanta vary depending on the experience you choose. General admission starts at $39 per person, which includes full access to all exhibits, interactive slime stations, the ASMR tunnel, and your own custom eight-ounce slime to take home.

The custom slime experience was a favorite amongst my kids. Sloomoo explains all of the different types of slime that exists. They’re the same ones you just experienced as you walked through the museum. Kids receive the slime base and they can add scents, color and even charms to their souvenir slime. It’s really cool! I made a pink glossy slime that’s linen scented.

For those looking to take their visit to the next level, the “Enhanced Experience” ticket (typically priced around $65) includes everything in general admission plus the opportunity to get slimed under the Sloomoo Falls, a signature (and very Instagram-worthy) moment.

Children under two are admitted for free, and the institute occasionally offers special deals or group rates for parties, field trips, or events.

The Best Time To Visit Sloomoo

Holidays and weekends are going to be busiest, just like any Atlanta attraction. I love Sloomoo as an escape from the Atlanta heat or as a rainy day activity. During the summer months, there’s more of a chance that you’ll encounter field trips. However, the tickets only allow a certain number of guests per timed entrance, which helps to control the traffic.

Sloomoo is near other Atlanta attractions, like Legoland Discovery Center Atlanta. A few hours is enough time to experience everything Sloomoo has to offer. Double-up your day out and visit Legoland and Sloomoo on the same day for a fun Atlanta family day out.

Sloomoo has a slime wall where guests add a ball of slime to the wall with every visit.

Bottom Line: Is Sloomoo Institute Atlanta Worth The Price?

At first glance, a $39 ticket for general admission might seem steep compared to other kid-friendly attractions. However, what sets Sloomoo apart is its one-of-a-kind, fully immersive experience. You’re not just looking at exhibits — you’re playing, creating, and engaging senses in a way that’s rare for indoor attractions.

When you factor in the high-quality production design, cleanliness, location, and the sheer creativity packed into every room, the cost begins to feel more like an investment in an experience. We found the creativity, interactivity, and uniqueness of the experience well worth the cost, especially for kids who are obsessed with slime. My 8-year-old and 4-year-old enjoyed the experience the most.

Don’t forget about the free parking, too. That’s rare for Atlanta. There’s definitely a “sweet spot” age, during grade school, where they’d love the museum the most. It may be a pricey day out for larger families, but the price to keep the slime mess out of my house? PRICELESS.
