Why We Love This Recipe

This slider recipe is easy because the meat is shaped and baked in the oven. You don’t have to worry about grilling individual burger patties. The secret sauce is a Thousand Island dressing, but that’s what the traditional Big Mac sauce is, too. Sometimes, I’ll only add the secret sauce to half of the sliders if my kids don’t want it. You can still customize a portion of the sliders, even though they’re not individually made.

These Big Mac Sliders are perfect for summer and taste better than McDonald’s.

Big Mac Cheeseburger Slider Ingredients:

  • Ground Beef: Use at least an 80% lean ground beef
  • Eggs: To hold the beef together
  • Minced Onion: Adds flavor to the beef
  • Garlic Powder: Adds flavor to the beef
  • Salt: For Seasoning
  • Pepper: For Seasoning
  • Dinner Rolls: I prefer to use the King’s Hawaiian rolls
  • Thousand Island Dressing: Whatever brand you like
  • American Cheese: Individual slices
  • Dill Pickles: Sliced from the jar
  • Shredded Lettuce: Use a pre-washed bag of shredded lettuce
  • Butter: Salted butter works
  • Sesame Seeds

Side Dishes To Pair With Big Mac Sliders

This is such a great summer recipe. I love to pair my Big Mac Sliders with side salads. Our family’s favorite is the Classic Russet Potato Salad. It’s creamy and hearty, plus the potato salad can be prepped ahead of time and kept in the fridge. If you’re looking for a true Big Mac flavor pairing, try making these Copycat McDonald’s French Fries. You can certainly get the entire McDonald’s experience at home, but so much better tasting since it’s homemade and from scratch.

Recipe Substitutions

Burgers are really easy to customize. If you want to make some of the sliders without sauce, only spread half of the sauce. The flavoring of this recipe mimics a McDonald’s Big Mac, but you can customize the sliders however you want.

I used an 80/20 ground beef blend. A little bit of fat in the ground beef helps the sliders stay tender. If you want to use a more lean ground beef blend, feel free. You’ll still have a great tasting Big Mac Slider!

How To Make Big Mac Cheeseburger Sliders

Preheat oven to 350ºF. In a large bowl, mix the beef, eggs, 1/2 cup minced onion, garlic powder, salt and pepper lightly thoroughly. I used my hands to mix it very well.

Mixing the meat together with the seasoning

Divide beef in half and place onto parchment paper. Shape meat into a 7×10 inch rectangle. Repeat with the remaining beef so you have 2 rectangles.

Shaping the meat into two rectangles before cooking

Bake until a thermometer reads 160ºF, about 15-20 minutes. While beef is cooking, cut the rolls in half horizontally without separating each slider rolls. Spread 1/4 cup of dressing evenly over bottom halves of rolls.

Spreading Big Mac sauce on half of the rolls

When beef has finished cooking, remove excess fat from the meat with paper towel, if needed. Top each rectangle of meat with 5 slices of cheese and return to oven. You may need to cut the cheese to fit onto the beef.

Adding cheese to the top of the meat and melting in the oven

Bake until cheese has melted, 2-3 minutes. Place meat on bottom halves of rolls one rectangle on top of the other; spread with remaining 1/4 cup dressing.

Spreading on more dressing.

Layer with pickles, remaining 1/4 cup minced onion and lettuce.

Adding pickles and onion to the burgers

Replace top halves of rolls. Brush butter on top of rolls; sprinkle with sesame seeds.
