2020 Chevrolet Equinox: The Smaller SUV That Keeps Getting Better

Special thank you to Chevrolet for loaning me the 2020 Chevrolet Equinox for our family vacation to Orlando. I’m very excited to share how this SUV keeps getting better.

Whenever I drive a Chevrolet product for the new year, I’m always excited to see how their updating the vehicle. Chevy does a fantastic job to update technology and safety without sacrificing the reasons why everyone loved buying the vehicle in the first place. Test driving the new 2020 Chevrolet Equinox proves that their still striving for great quality while selling the classic Equinox we love at a steal of a price.

2020 Chevrolet Equinox Review & Vehicle Highlights

With over three million units sold since it’s creation, the Chevrolet Equinox continues to be one of the brand’s best-selling SUV’s. What’s changed for 2020? The most apparent changes are an update to the exterior color options and the a new appearance package. The 2020 Equinox is offered in the same as the outgoing 2019 model: L, LS, LT and Premier. Check out some of my favorite features that truly assisted our family on our road trip from Atlanta to Orlando – with two kids and TONS of luggage.

Exterior Options To Turn Heads

The biggest changes made to the SUV for 2020 are all about the exterior look. Buyers can pick from three new exterior color options. These new colors include: Chocolate Metallic, Cayenne Orange Metallic and Midnight Blue Metallic. There’s also a sleek Midnight Edition package that offers a variety of exterior accents:

  • Front and rear black bowtie emblems
  • Unique black grille
  • Black bezel for the front fog lamps
  • 19-inch gloss black aluminum wheel

Connectivity Options That Chevrolet Is Known For

Stay connected while you’re in the road with intuitive technology that seamlessly integrates with your devices. Connect to Apple Car Play or Android Auto, wirelessly charge your phone and have access to all of the information you need with a 7-inch touch screen. The touch screen is a perfectly located at a great height to offer easy visual access while driving, so you’re not distracted.

You can also connect to a 4G LTE WiFi hotspot from anywhere. Chevy was the first mass-market automaker to offer a prepaid unlimited data plan and it always comes in handy when we’re on the road. I love to connect my laptop, when my Husband is driving, and get some work done. Owners have the ability to stream video on a tablet, send email on a laptop or play online using a gaming console in their vehicles. I promise that it’s a luxury option that you never knew you needed until you try it out.

Safety Features That’ll Assist Your Driving

What do I love about Chevrolet? They make safety a priority for every driver. They provide safety features that truly assist you as the driver and help you feel connected to the road. While how we drive hasn’t changed in a century, how safe we drive has changed!

The following features are now standard across all 2020 Chevrolet Equinox equipment groups/trim levels (RPO code in parentheses):

  • Automatic Emergency Braking (UHY)
  • Forward Collision Alert (UEU)
  • Following Distance Indicator (UE4)
  • Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning (UHX)
  • Forward Automatic Braking (UKJ)
  • IntelliBeam headlamps (TQ5)

Previous model years featured some of these options as upgrades, but now they are standard for 2020. This definitely gives Chevrolet a leg up on the competition, which is highly competitive amongst the small SUV category. I feel like the safety features finally match the Engine options, which include the turbocharged 1.5L LYX inline four-cylinder, as well as the turbocharged 2.0L LTG inline four-cylinder. Now drivers will be in better control of that power and feel more secure.

About That 2020 Chevrolet Equinox Cargo Space

So what was I most concerned about when we loaded up our Chevy Equinox? The cargo space. As a family of four, we tend to travel with a ton of gear (and we bring home even more gear – thanks to our love of souvenirs). I’m a firm believer that your vehicle has to accommodate all of your gear and easily go from your daily-driver to road trip ready.

There are several configurations of the rear space in the Equinox to help it adapt to the owner’s needs. The amount of cargo space in the Equinox depends on whether or not you’ve folded down the rear seats. That said, what are the 2020 cargo space measurements?

With the second-row seats upright, the vehicle can fit up to 29.9 cubic feet of cargo. Fold those seats down, however, and you’ll be able to work with the maximum cargo capacity of the Equinox – 63.9 cubic feet! It served us well for our road trip and still left our kids with plenty of leg room. In the end – no need to be nervous about cargo space.

The starting MSRP of the 2020 Chevrolet Equinox is $23,800
