Family SUV: 2019 Chevrolet Equinox Review
Special thank you to Chevrolet for loaning our family the 2019 Chevrolet Equinox to review. All opinions are my own.
There’s something our family has in common with the fairytale character, Goldielocks. We’re always on the hunt for the perfect size of everything we own. As someone who didn’t own an SUV before having kids, the larger options (like the Suburban or Tahoe) can be a bit cumbersome. When we drove the 2019 Chevrolet Equinox from Atlanta to Cocoa Beach, we finally felt settled into the SUV that was “Just Right.”

The Affordable Mid-Size Family SUV With Great Options
Luxury Options That I Love
While my compact car days are long gone, I still admire all of the lux options I once owned. Now, my luxury options are a bit more helpful as a mom. The powered rear liftgate and the remote vehicle start are huge helps when I’ve got my hands full. While other options, like the leather wrapped shift knob and steering wheel makes the Equinox seem like it could compete with other luxury SUV brands.
Safety Options Designed For Travelers
Whether you’re traveling across the city or across country, you’ll find the Equinox’s available safety options are designed for either scenario. The lane changing alert with side blind zone alert, allows the driver to detect other vehicles while changing lanes. It gives me that extra peace of mind when I’m traveling – especially at night.
Other helpful upgrades are the rear cross traffic alert and rear park assist. You end up having more eyes on the road, thanks to specially mounted cameras. Drivers can even see a birds-eye view while backing up the vehicle, which is great if you prefer to back into parking spots. We had to park in several parallel parking spots when we drove to the beach and it’s life changing to have that assistance. Chevrolet truly uses technology to advance their safety options.

Lastly, Chevrolet is saving lives with the “rear seat reminder” that pops up as you turn your vehicle off. It’s an audible alert, with a pop up message, on the dashboard. It reminds drives to check the rear seat of your vehicle before exiting. I never want to forget my precious backseat passengers and I admire Chevy taking action to help out.
Features To Keep You Connected On The Road
Something we always look forward to, for any road trip, is having flexible connectivity options. The 4g LTE WI-FI allows the 2019 Chevrolet Equinox to be a mobile hotspot. I can work while my husband drives and my kids can stream their favorite shows. I love that it’s a standard option!
We’ve never had to use OnStar, but I like knowing it’s there. OnStar is a concierge service for vehicle owners that can dial emergency services or even call a tow truck. I’m glad we’ve never had the opportunity to use the system, but it’s nice knowing OnStar is available when we need it.
When we were cruising along the coastline, we had our favorite tunes playing with SiriusXM radio. The service subscription is sold separately from the vehicle, but it’s a nice feature that our family enjoys.
