Loews Sapphire Falls Resort Review

Staying on Universal Orlando property will make your family vacation easy. It saves time on transportation, the resorts are beautifully themed and they offer amenities are unmatched by the local competition. I had the opportunity to stay at Loews Sapphire Falls Resort and loved everything they had to offer families.

No matter how old your kids are, there seemed to be something for everyone to enjoy. The resort has very welcoming and bright decor and overlooks the theme parks. Here are all of the Sapphire Falls Resort amenities that are designed with families in mind.

More For Your Money

The Loews Sapphire Falls Resort is a great price point for families that want a lot from their resort without paying for a “premier” property. Universal categorizes it as a “preferred” resort, being moderate level, but I think it compares to what you get at a “premier” (deluxe) property.

Express Passes are not included when you’re a guest of Loews Sapphire Falls, but I think there is more than enough that makes up for that loss. You can always purchase the Express Pass as a theme park ticket add-on.

It’s A Prime Location

I’m all about saving time to maximize our family’s park experiences. They offer four different types of transportation from Sapphire Falls: boat taxi, pedi-cab, shuttle bus and walking. There’s definitely a line for the boats during peak hours, but it was usually faster than the 10-15 minute walk.

While the pedi-cabs are free, they were more scarce and not always available for use. If you’re heading to Volcano Bay waterpark, the shuttle bus is your only option.

The Largest Pool At Universal Orlando

The zero-depth entry pool is the largest available at Universal. There is a splash pad for kids, underwater seating for adults and plenty of lounge chairs. There’s also a slide and lifeguards on duty. We enjoyed cocktails by the pool during the daily happy hour.

Towels are provided, but surprisingly, they offered sunscreen to anyone that needed it – free of charge. Lemon water is also complimentary. It’s the little things that make all the difference. Definitely take advantage of the pool in the hot afternoons. It was my favorite resort feature.

Spacious Rooms

Sapphire Falls offer a variety of rooms to fit different types of families. For large families staying at Universal Orlando, you can pick a family suite which offers a kid’s room (with two twin beds) attached to a living area and connects to an adult standard room.

Our standard two queen room was spacious, the beds were comfortable and overlooked the pool. Most of the rooms look over the pool or the lagoon. I love the separate toilet area from the vanity. It’s great for multiple adults staying in one room.

A coffee maker, mini-fridge and hairdryer was included in our room.

On-Site Dining Options

Amatista Cookhouse is the resort’s primary restaurant that offers a sit-down breakfast and dinner. Quick service lunches and snacks are available poolside, while the Strong Water Tavern is your late night lounge option that has a full rum bar.

For guests that want to grab something on-the-go, there’s a coffeeshop near the lobby that is open early and serves a variety of pastries. Of course, guests can always take boat transportation to any City Walk restaurant too.

If you want to dine at another resort, a free shuttle provides transportation to and from the other Loews on-site hotel restaurants with pick-up available in the hotel lobby approximately every 30 minutes from 6–10 pm.

Specialty Dining Experiences

Enjoy the Caribbean flare of their weekly interactive dinner show, Caribbean Carnaval. It offers authentic food, songs and dances inspired by the islands. Savor the vibrant colors, delightful tastes and rich sounds of the Bahamas, Cuba, Jamaica, Barbados and Trinidad. The unique experience is an up charge, but available on property.

Tickets can be purchased in-advance online. The Loews Sapphire Falls Resort Caribbean Carnaval price ranges from $36-$41 for kids and $71-$81 for adults, depending on your seat location.

Theme Park Amenities

Guests staying at Loews Sapphire Falls Resort have early access to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and select attractions at Volcano Bay – for one hour before the park opens. That’s great during the peak summer season. A great complimentary feature is sending any park purchase to your resort to pickup later.

Kids enjoy the Universal Orlando character appearances and parents can even set up a wake-up call from select characters.

The Golf Universal Orlando™ program enables guests to take to the links during their stay. You can reserve a perfect tee time and arrange for complimentary transportation to and from select courses. You can contact the Universal Orlando Ticket Center, in the lobby, for assistance.

Awesome Customer Service

From checking in to feeling at home, the Loews staff ensure guest’s needs are met. I love that a text message service is set up at check-in. It allows you to communicate with the front desk from your cell phone, no matter where you are. They instantly respond back. I asked questions about the free WIFI.

Pets are always welcome at Loews properties. They are both cat and dog-friendly. All pets receive their own gifts including a pet tag, bowl and a special treat to kick off their vacation. Owners receive a detailed brochure with information on all pet services: room service menu, local dog walking routes, and area pet services (veterinarians, pet shops and groomers).

They charge a one-time fee of $100 per stay for pets and limits the number of pets to two per room.

The Health And Fitness Center

This complimentary fitness center offers equipment needs for a cardio-vascular workout routine. Additional amenities include separate locker rooms for men and women with towels, and a quiet lounge area.  Each locker room has its own dry sauna and showers.
