What is Star Wars Day?

May the 4th—better known as Star Wars Day—is an unofficial holiday celebrated by fans of the iconic space saga Star Wars. The date plays off the famous phrase “May the Force be with you,” turning it into the punny greeting, “May the Fourth be with you.” What started as a clever play on words has grown into a worldwide celebration of all things Jedi, Sith, droids, and galaxies far, far away.

Each year on May 4, fans mark the occasion by rewatching their favorite films, dressing as beloved characters (Princess Leia, anyone?), hosting themed parties, and sharing tributes on social media. From special merchandise drops to themed treats and movie marathons, Star Wars Day has become a full-scale pop culture event that brings generations of fans together to celebrate the legacy of the beloved franchise.

How To Store These Cookies For Freshness

Store them in an airtight container at room temperature, away from heat and sunlight, so the filling doesn’t soften or separate. You can layer them with parchment paper to prevent sticking. For longer storage, place them in a freezer-safe container or zip-top bag and freeze for up to 2–3 months—just let them thaw at room temperature so the filling returns to its creamy texture without becoming oily.

How to Make Baby Yoda Cookies

Prepare a baking sheet or cutting board with waxed paper. Melt the candy coating according to package directions giving special care not to overheat the candy.

If the candy coating is overheated, it will be too thick. You can add 1 teaspoon of coconut oil or vegetable shortening to help thin the candy but do not add any other type of liquid as the candy will seize and harden.

One at a time, use a candy dipper to cover whole almonds in the melted candy and tap to allow the excess to return to the bowl. Transfer the almonds to waxed paper and allow to dry completely.

Next, dip each cookie into the candy melts to coat completely. Shake to remove excess candy and then place on waxed paper.

Allow candy coating to harden completely. Then, using a toothpick, scratch a nose into the candy between the eyes. Roll out fondant and cut to fit the nutter butter cookies, allowing some excess to fold down the neckline of the coat.
