Foolproof Slow Cooker Christmas Drop Candy

I’ve seen several Christmas Candy Drop recipes online, but this one is truly unique. My Grandmother gave me the recipe and she got it from a coworker in the 1970’s. The butterscotch and chocolate combination is what everyone loves. Then the candy has a great crunch because of the peanuts too. The flavor is a match made in heaven.

I had to put my own twist on the recipe and make it my own. Since it’s only 3 ingredients, I couldn’t really change that. So I simplified how it’s made for today. My Grandmother made the candy over the stovetop, which is great, but requires a lot of time standing over it. My Mom made the recipe with the microwave, which also works, but it’s easy to burn the candy as it melts.

Making Candy In The Slow Cooker

I make my Christmas drop candy in the slow cooker. It’s the perfect way to do it without any effort. I love that you can set the slow cooker and forget about it. I’ll do household chores or run errands and then come back to finish the recipe. You *could* make it before work too, and finish once you get home. Just set the slow cooker on low for one hour and come back to stir and drop the candy.

How To Make Christmas Drop Candy As A Gift

I love this recipe – so we double the batch. I keep half for my family and I love to give out the other half as homemade holiday gifts. You can easily purchase festive tin containers from your local box store or Target. Place some tissue in the bottom, or piece of fabric, and add your candies. It’s a lovely and thoughtful gift idea.

Storing Leftover Drop Candy

If you have leftovers from the recipe, you can store it in an air-tight container. I like to keep it in the refrigerator so there’s no harm in it melting. Even though you’re making it in the winter, I find that homes stay warm because of heaters. You can let them thaw again to room temperature before enjoying.
