Every night I prepare for tomorrow’s school day. That means I am laying out his clothes, packing a lunch and picking out what he’ll eat for a snack that day. Since it’s our first year of Kindergarten, I’m finally realizing what my mom friends have been saying for years: it’s a struggle to pick nutritious snacks that they’ll eat. My back to school shopping is focused on the healthy & nutritious aspect. I’ve got some great Easy and Healthy School Snacks ideas that they’ll love!
Easy and Healthy School Snacks That Kids Love
We’re stocking our pantry with snack options that the kids can take to school or even enjoy after school. I love grabbing everything I need from Walmart. It’s our one-stop shop because we pick up our entire list in one spot. They even have grocery pick up now, so it can’t be more easy.
Some of my favorite products for our daily snack routine can be found at your local Walmart store. Whether it’s a snack before their after-school extracurricular activities or something to nosh on while doing homework, these are my favorite go to options:
- Sensible Portions Veggie Straws: These are an airy and crunchy straw that combine garden-grown potatoes and ripe vegetables that come together as a flavorful “better-for-you” snack option. They’re an awesome alternative to traditional potato chips.
- Earth’s Best’s Organic® Sunny Days Snack Bars: Bursting with fruit flavor in every bite, these bars are an excellent source of calcium, iron and zinc. They’re wrapped individually and make a great on-the-go option!
- MaraNatha Almond Butter: Creamy and sweet, this will be an instant classic to spread on a sandwich or put onto a cracker. We also love spreading it on raw apples for some added juicy crunch.
Prepare A Kid’s Snack Shelf
One of the ways I can keep my kids eating healthier options is by keeping the healthy options available to them. Our pantry and refrigerator both have a snack shelf where I store the healthier options. I even prep portion sized amounts in bags or cups that they enjoy whenever they want.
My kids feel independent about grabbing their own snack and it allows me to control what they’re snacking on. So now I’ve got some great snack options for school and in the afternoons.
