Women on the Run: Dealing with Incontinence

I’ve been working to get back into shape ever since my second son was born in November of last year. Everyday has had it’s ups and downs, but I’ve been working on incorporating healthy habits back in my daily schedule. Part of that is getting back into my running routine. I shared my struggles about how hard it’s been to start running again after having a baby. One of the biggest struggles that I’ve been dealing with is female incontinence issues. Bladder leakage is common after having a baby, but many of us just choose to ignore it. I am determined to get back into marathon mode and I won’t let my struggle with incontinence stop me!

I know I’m not alone either…

How to Run With Stress Urinary Incontinence

There’s a real name for female incontinence- female Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI). I’m experiencing it postpartum and I’m one of the 25% of women who deal with it at some point in their lifetime. Unfortunately, there is a stigma to the subject. I didn’t know how to handle my incontinence issues, until I was introduced to Finess.

Finess is the only product that can stop bladder leakage before it happens, unlike traditional pads that only catch it. It’s a revolutionary approach to SUI. Now that I use Finess, running, laughing or even a sneeze won’t be interrupted by leakage.

How Does Finess Actually Work?

It’s easy to use! It is placed over the urethral opening and has a specially formulated hydrogel adhesive that gently seals it in place until it’s removed. When increased abdominal pressure is placed on the bladder – from a sneeze, laugh, or a cough – Finess prevents the urine from escaping.

I love how small it is. It doesn’t increase in size, like a pad, so it feels light and doesn’t add any bulk. I can run with Finess and it stays in place the entire time. It’s comfortable and I forget that I am wearing it. It’s given me the confidence to workout without any worry now! That’s such a relief for me.

I wasn't aware of this issue before reading this post! I'm so glad there's something out there to help!

I didn't realize this problem actually had a name, let alone a solution. You are right about the stigma, I probably wouldn't have asked anyone about it but am glad to read about it!

I hate shying away from "taboo" subjects. There are so many things that people are scared to talk about but talking about it would be so helpful.

I think it is great that we can have honest conversations about this. It's also helpful that there are products to help us deal with this.

Oooo now this sounds like one neat product for those who suffer from Sui! This is actually the first time I've really heard of sui.
