It’s been over six years since our family has taken a vacation outside of Disney. It’s always been Disney Parks, Disney Cruise Line or a Disney Beach Vacation. As Disney Vacation Club members, it’s rare for us to veer from a magical vacation. This week we are doing things differently – we’re headed to Great Wolf Lodge in Concord, North Carolina.

Great Wolf Lodge in Southern California
Unlike traditional vacation planning, we didn’t research this location and decide on the trip. You could say, the destination sort of picked us. I’m attending Blog Life University, a boutique style blog conference and Great Wolf Lodge is hosting. Instead of going by myself, I’m packing up the family and we’re going to experience it together.
Great Wolf Lodge peaked my interest because they are opening a location near my hometown of Atlanta. Their LaGrange, GA location will be opening in 2018. This week, visiting the North Carolina location, will give my family a true taste of what to expect.
I told my 3 year old that I we were going on vacation this week and it went like this:
Me: “We’re going on vacation this week”
JP: “I can’t wait to see the fireworks every night”
Me: “We aren’t going to Disney”
My 3 year old just gives me a blank stare
At that point, I realized we we’re Disney snobs. When I tell people we’re vacationing at Great Wolf Lodge, they immediately compare it to a Disney experience. Everyone says we’ll love it and it’s very similar to Disney. I’m not sure what to think about that, but I’m excited to see what the hype is about!
The indoor water park looks like a lot of fun and everything is located on property. They have dining and entertainment located on property. We’ll make it a road trip from Atlanta to North Carolina and staying on property the entire time. My Husband is looking forward to some quality time with my 3 year old, while I’m curious about the dining options. A Mom’s dream vacation is no cooking or cleaning – right?
You can follow along on our Great Wolf Lodge vacation and discover the resort as we do. I’ll be using my Instagram stories, so double check that you’re following me on IG. Plus, be on the look out for Facebook LIVES!
