Before the holiday rush begins with my family coming to town for Thanksgiving, I got to spend a quiet weekend with JP. I’m trying to cherish these last few days of him being 1 before the “terrible twos” begin. Although, I have a feeling we’ve already started that stage!
We spent some time at our favorite park on Saturday. Atlanta weather took a turn for cold and windy days, so it was nice to spend some time outside while it was still bearable.
After the park, he took a nice long nap so I could get a run in on the treadmill. Whenever he naps, I try to run until he wakes up. It goes: run a mile, check the monitor, run a mile, check the monitor– repeat! He took me by surprise and let me run 11 miles! I had to take a break at one point to grab fuel.
It’s getting into the nitty gritty of marathon training and I have 2 more long runs past 20 miles. Then it’s “ready or not”! I knew scheduling the long runs would be hard this time of year, so I was thankful to get my 11 miles in as a bonus. I am exactly 50 days away from my 1st marathon: the 2016 WDW Marathon!
Today was my rest day, so we stayed inside to avoid the cold. It turned out to be the perfect day to make my easy chicken noodle soup! I just chop the veggies, bake the chicken and cook the pasta. Then I toss it into the slow cooker and forget about it. It makes a huge batch too. My husband is sick with the annual junk, so it’s a great thing to have handy in our fridge for an easy meal.
Next up: a big Thanksgiving week full of family fun time, good eating and some extra running!
How was your weekend? Did you have snow or cold weather too?
