It seems like every weekend, we try to jam more and more fun into 48 hours. My husband just switched to a typical “9-5” weekday job, so the weekends are far more valuable to us than they ever have been. But it’s such a teeny amount of time together and we like to do EVERYTHING! Until we are beyond exhausted.
The highlight of our weekend was a trip to the Georgia Aquarium. It’s been a city favorite for 10 years now, but we don’t make it too often. So it was a special treat to play “tourist” in our own city.
The highlight of JP’s trip was seeing the alligators at the river exhibit and the Sharks at the ocean voyager exhibit. He was in awe the whole time. Just like Disney, it’s far more special seeing the aquarium through your child’s eyes.
He was exhausted from all of the fun we had…
To sweeten the weekend a little, I made homemade Chocolate Chunk Blondies for the boys. HERE is the recipe, from Ina Garten. These are far from healthy, but such a treat. They’re dangerous because they don’t take much effort to make and bake up quickly.
This Sunday has a bittersweet feeling in the air as school starts tomorrow for our county (and most of Georgia). I know that some of my Mommy friends are excited and some are sad to say goodbye to Summer 2016. The kids are anxious and we’ll be seeing the buses drive by early tomorrow morning.
We chose to keep JP home with me one more year, but he’s enrolled in a few classes to supplement his time with me. I’m fortunate that I can stay at home with him, while still working part time.
How are you celebrating the final weekends of Summer?
