Don’t be intimidated by working with Everclear, which is a grain alcohol. It’s not as hard as a you think. Yes – it’s strong at 190 proof – but you’re going to create a smooth cocktail that won’t burn once you’re finished.
This Strawberry Lemonade Moonshine recipe is sweet and tart. It’s made with fresh strawberries, which makes all the difference. We love making a batch after visiting our local farms for strawberries, in the spring.
How To Make Homemade Strawberry Lemonade Moonshine
If you’ve never made moonshine at home, it’s actually quite easy. You’re using Everclear which has an extremely high proof. It’s a very alcoholic cocktail, but adding the strawberry puree and lemonade balances everything.
Make Your Own Strawberry Puree
When we started making this moonshine, it became a tradition after going to the farm for picking strawberries. You can purchase strawberry puree at the store, but it will be loaded with preservatives. For the best taste, use a kitchen blender to make your own homemade strawberry puree.
It’s just blended strawberries with lemon juice, lemon zest and sugar. You just strain out the strawberry seeds.
Serving Homemade Moonshine At A Party
If you’re entertaining and want to serve this strawberry lemonade moonshine, it’s best to make it ahead of time. The longer it sits in the refrigerator, the better it will taste. Make it at least one day ahead of time. I serve it in small mason jars with sliced lemons against the edge of the glass and plenty of ice. You can add a strawberry wedge on the side too – if you’re feeling extra fancy.
What You’ll Need From The Grocery Store:
- Lemonade (I use the Simply Lemonade brand)
- Everclear Grain Alcohol
- Filtered Water (you can certainly use tap)
- Strawberry Puree (Or make your own)
Step-By-Step Directions To Make Strawberry Lemonade Moonshine
Over the stovetop, in a large stock pot, bring water to a boil and reduce heat to simmer.
Add 2 cups sugar and 4 cups lemonade. Stir till dissolved.
Remove from heat and add clear grain alcohol. Stir until well mixed.
Strain and add strawberry puree. Stir until desired consistency.
Bottle individually, in mason jars, and cure in the refrigerator for at least 24 hours. The longer it sits the better it is.
