Staying Fit on a Disney World Trip

Last Updated on June 29, 2021 by Kimberly Stroh

There is so much temptation on a Disney trip with the amazing food choices all around you. I’ve come home from a RunDisney vacation, where I’ve run a half marathon, and still managed to take home a few stow away pounds! But Walt Disney World offers incredible options for guests who want to maintain their fitness while on vacation.

If you are looking for a traditional indoor gym, I highly suggest staying at a Deluxe resort on Disney World property. Disney has gone through great lengths to offer well designed fitness centers at their Deluxe resorts. If you are looking for weights, cardio machines and mats you’ll find them at the Duluxe resort fitness centers. Disney does a great job at maintaining each fitness center and keeping it clean. I’ve been to the Yacht Club fitness center and it’s beautiful (ahem–and located next to Beaches & Cream ice cream shop).  Guests who are staying on Disney property but not at a Deluxe hotel, can also use the fitness centers too. Just check in with the hotel front desk first.

If you’d like to enjoy the scenery a bit more and enjoy the Florida weather, check out the New Balance Running Trails across Disney World property. These running paths are located in the Magic Kingdom resort area, Epcot resort area, Animal Kingdom resort and Downtown Disney. Concierge desks offer maps with approximate distances. If you are in training for a RunDisney race, this will be amazing motivation for you. The trail in the Epcot resort area is commonly used as a the course along RunDisney 10k’s and WDW Marathon.

Lastly, one of the best ways to sneak in some fitness on your trip to Disney World is to wear a fitness tracker. You can monitor your calories burned and steps taken at each park. It might be the motivation you need to walk the World Showcase in Epcot versus taking the boat transportation. The FitBit Charge is even the perfect size to add Magic Band Slides. How cool is that? Fitness trackers are a great solution to staying fit on your trip without taking time away from the family.
