Special thank you to Disney – I watched the movie, complimentary, in exchange for my Star Wars: The Last Jedi review. All opinions are my own. Photos ©Lucasfilm Ltd.
I write many movie reviews, but none have ever been as difficult as this Star Wars: The Last Jedi Review. As we all know, the fandom for Star Wars is (pun intended) out of this world and the franchise popularity is multi-generational. It’s intimidating to write about a movie that has so much hype and speculation.
Since seeing the movie last night, I’m still tense from all of the action and even the storyline. There’s nothing quite as goose-bump inducing as a new addition to the Star Wars franchise. With that being said, I think it’s best to see the movie spoiler-free. My Last Jedi review doesn’t give away too many details – so read away.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi Review
Fantastic New Star Wars Storyline
The story seamlessly transitions between our three new protagonists as they combat the dark side, and other obstacles in their way, to sparking the Rebellion back to life. I don’t want to give away too many details, but I love the storyline. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time and couldn’t predict the ending.
Something for Every Fan
Since there are many generations of Star Wars fans, The Last Jedi certainly caters to everyone. The returning fan favorites pave way for rising stars, in the series, to take their place as newfound fan favorites. We already met Finn, Poe and Rey from The Force Awakens, but we’re introduced to a new Rebellion character – Rose. Actress Kelly Marie Tran plays Rose, who has a faithful love for the Republic. The younger roles hold their own against the original legends, Leia and Luke.
See Carrie Fisher on the Big Screen
For no other reason, go see Carrie Fisher play Leia one more time. She was stunning to watch and the film is a reminder on how much she’ll be missed.
Action-Packed to the Max
From epic dog fights between tie fighters and x-wings to light saber battles, there’s a ton of action packed into Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The battle scenes are woven into the storyline appropriately and tug on your heart strings just enough. Whether you’re a fan of the Rebellion or the First Order, you’ll be pulled into the drama.
To be blunt: use the bathroom before the movie starts. You won’t want to miss a second. As the familiar fanfare and scrolling text lead you into the movie, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, grabs hold of you and never lets go until the very last scene.
Family-Friendly For Most
I lean on the conservative side, as a Mom, but I would definitely let my kids see the movie. With the exception of a few curse words, the film is family-friendly. I would take a child who is already familiar with the Star Wars franchise and knows what to expect. There isn’t gory violence or sensual scenes. Trust me, take the kids. They’ll want to go see it.
Fall in Love With Porgs
We’re introduced to the new indigenous creatures, called Porgs. After seeing the movie, you’ll own one for your home. They are fluffy, adorable and I want one.
