Is there anything better than gooey melted cheese? I don’t think so! I can’t resist a great cheesy appetizer for a cozy comfort food. If you’re anything like me, you’ve got to try this Cheesy Italian Skillet Pizza Dip recipe. It’s melted cheese, with herbs, that’s baked to perfection with a ring of bread for dipping. You can add your favorite pizza toppings too. Serve it as heavy appetizer (or don’t share with anyone else).
I have made this for a movie night, served it for game day and I’ve also made it just for our family at dinnertime. I don’t think there’s ever a wrong time to make a melty cheese appetizer. You can use the bread for dipping or just go for a big spoonful. You’ll be making this recipe time and time again.

How To Make The BEST Skillet Pizza Dip Recipe
You don’t have to be an expert cook to throw together a great dip. I’m going to walk you through, step by step, to making this pizza dip. The best tip I can give you: serve it right away. When you’re working with melted cheese, don’t wait. Immediately dive in and enjoy.
What To Serve With Your Skillet Pizza Dip
This is definitely a heavy appetizer. If you’re watching a game, serve it alongside some light appetizers and let this be the cheesy one. If you do want to enjoy it as a meal, which nobody blames you, then add a tossed Italian salad. The lighter counterpart will offset the heaviness. Then a glass of wine is the finishing touch.

Step-By-Step Directions To Make Skillet Pizza Dip
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Combine the butter, ½ teaspoon garlic powder, and red pepper flakes.
Cut each dinner roll into four equal pieces and roll each piece into a ball. Dip the dough ball into the butter mixture. Place the dough ball along the outer edge of a 10-inch cast iron skillet, leaving the center open. Stack the remaining dough balls on top of the bottom layer.
Cover and allow the dough to rise until almost doubled in size, about 30 minutes. Meanwhile, combine the cream cheese, 1 cup mozzarella , mayonnaise, Italian seasoning and remaining garlic powder.
When the rolls have risen, layer the center of the skillet with cheese mixture, pizza sauce, and shredded mozzarella. Top with pepperoni.
Brush the rolls with remaining seasoned butter and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Bake for an 15 to 20 minutes or until the rolls are done. If the rolls begin to get too brown, tent with aluminum foil. Garnish with fresh basil.
