Running isn’t cheap, despite what non-runners think. After you’ve bought your shoes & clothes or maybe that fancy watch, you want to test your training in a race. Sometimes runners like to sign up for several races leading up to their big race. So it can quickly become a big expense.
But there are several ways to save money on race registrations if you know where to look…
Tips For Saving Money on Race Registrations:
-Follow your favorite race on social media. Sometimes they’ll promote the race for a select period of time with discount code. National Running Day is a great day to find discount codes.
-Sign up early. Most races have tiered race registration prices. The later you register, the more expensive it becomes.
-Follow bloggers who run. Many bloggers help promote races by blogging for them. Sometimes bloggers offer a special discount code that’s exclusive for their readers.
-Skip the shirt. Sometimes you can score a cheaper price on a race if you opt out of the race shirt. I’ve only seen this a few times, but I’d pick it every time!
-Repeat a race. Some races offer discounts for returning runners.
It does take a little work to save money on races, but it can add up over time. So next time you are about to register for a race, do a little research and hopefully your wallet will thank you!

Google is your friend too! You can often find race discounts that way! I sign up early for one or two races a year and the rest are usually pretty last minute. My life is just too crazy with the kids' activities on the weekends and I don't know when games or concerts or rehearsals are until fairly close to the season starting.

Races are so much fun but the price is not! Not knowing my work schedule well in advance I am usually stuck paying the high registration fees, that is if they are even Still available. Some races sell out so quickly!
