I’ve been to several of the Road Runner Sports Adventure Runs now. It is the nation’s largest reoccuring group run. Word is definitely getting out about how much fun it is. The registration website was overloaded this week by too many users!
This was my third Adventure Run, you can read about the others here and here. Alpharetta is by far my favorite location of the Adventure Runs in my area. They have plenty of green space near the storefront for the runners to relish in their raffle tickets!
I joined my friend Amy, and her family, for the run. Each location is spread out among the shopping center and you earn raffle tickets for each “fun checkpoint”. This is a walker and runner friendly event. I always chose to walk it and enjoy the fun rather than run. It just means I earn less raffle tickets than the runners.
After the map is revealed, runners take off to the various checkpoint locations. You see orange Adventure Run shirts disperse quickly.
My favorite checkpoint this time was a fitness location where you earned raffle tickets for doing jumping jacks. Even the kids joined in!
In true Blogger style, I got a bit carried away with the photo taking and accidentally took this one without thinking…
The Adventure Run always has a “secret checkpoint” that they reveal the day of on their Facebook event page. After you register, join the event page so you can find out about this checkpoint. Thursday’s checkpoint was recreating the famous Normandy Beach flag photo.
I showed off my yoga skills for some tickets too.
After the allotted hour is up, everybody puts their raffle tickets in the bucket before they announce the winners. They had a lot of tickets to pick from!
Doug, my friend Amy’s husband, and their son spread out the many tickets to see if they won anything.
I wasn’t a winner this time, but I had a lot of fun. It’s so much fun for the whole family. Road Runner Sport does a fantastic job reaching out to the local community and offering a fun event. Each week the Adventure Run is a different location around Atlanta. Check out Road Runner Sport’s website for more information. These Adventure Run’s are happening all over the country. I highly recommend taking the whole family and joining the fun!
