In case you missed my last post, here, I struggled with staying healthy in 2015. So I’m determined to make 2016 a healthier year that is all about ME! I think the most important thing I can do before I begin my journey back to better health, is to make a plan. Without plans, my goals will never come into action and therefore never turn into a success.
I’m focusing on drinking extra water, eating healthier, learning to control my stress and running more in 2016. I’m sure that many of you have similar goals for the New Year and need a plan as well.
Here are the basic steps I’m taking to turn a new leaf in 2016:
- Toss the Holiday Junk
If your house is anything like mine, you’ve still got Grandma’s sugar cookies hanging out in the kitchen tempting you each night. I’m tossing the extra junk that I don’t need or donating it so I’m not tempted to snack on it.
- Find a Fitness Goal
Obviously, I’m partial to signing up for races, but find something that works for you. Maybe it’s taking 2 Zumba classes per week or stretching daily. Create SMART goals that are specific. If you just say, “I want to workout more” it will never happen.
- Discover How to Relax Again
I recently learned that I love coloring. It’s a trendy hobby for adults right now and I’m doing it daily. I found an amazing Disney Princess themed coloring book, HERE. They also have a Frozen themed coloring book as well. It’s already helped to calm my nerves and relax me at night.
Maybe its taking a bath, walking the dog or enjoying a glass of wine. But find the proper relaxation technique that works for you. Relaxing will also help keep us healthy in the New Year.
- Clear the Clutter
Now is a great time to get organized for the New Year. I find that organization helps keep me stay focused and on track with all of my goals. I’m donating old clothes and cleaning my son’s toys up. The less clutter I have in the house, the more organized I’ll feel about all aspects of my life.
- Find Some Exciting New Healthy Recipes
We all know that eating out can wreck even the best nutrition plans. Take the opportunity to research exciting new recipes. I’ve got several Pinterest boards that are collections of quick and healthy recipes. There are so many great bloggers who offer daily healthy recipes and the best place to find them is Pinterest!
I wish everybody a safe and happy New Years! I hope you can take some time to focus on your new goals and make them a priority. By planning out your goals, you’ll feel more prepared and they’ll become attainable!
