Summer brings along one of my favorite family activities: firing up the grill and gathering everyone for a cookout. Whether it’s 4th of July or just dining “al fresco” on a breezy summer evening, I like to keep it delicious and easy. It’s all about spending time with loved ones instead of cooking all day. I’m sharing one of my favorite family recipes, our Grilled Peach BBQ Chicken Skewers, plus great tips for keeping your celebration easy.
Easy Cookout Tips For Summer Entertaining
It’s important to keep things stress-free and a little planning can easily help you create a memorable cookout without much work. Of course, it starts with a meal that everyone will love. Walmart is my one-stop shop to grab all of our cookout needs – they make it convenient to pick up everything in one spot. These Grilled Peach BBQ Chicken Skewers can be prepared ahead of time. I like to put them together in the morning and let them marinate all day. My Husband grills them fresh while I put together some complimentary side dishes. Hover over the image to shop at Walmart!
Keep The Sides Easy Bring home the creamy cheesy goodness of STOUFFER’S® Macaroni and Cheese from Walmart as the perfect compliment to your grilling. I keep it in our freezer for whenever we’re craving the classic flavor we grew up with and still love. It’s a must-have side dish for all of our summer festivities because we can serve a big crowd without much effort. It only takes a few minutes in the microwave (or you can prepare STOUFFER’S in the oven) and we’re ready to enjoy it. My kids are always looking forward to it and I think Macaroni and Cheese brings back childhood memories – that’s why we love it so much.
Set Your Table Ahead Of Time Another way to keep things simple is to prepare a tablescape ahead of time. I use patriotic colors to keep things feeling festive. I’ll even snip a few flowers from around the yard as a centerpiece to keep it budget-friendly. If you really want to keep it easy, consider using paper plates as well. End Your Cookout With Unforgettable Family Fun Imagine a beautiful summer table that’s full of easy and delicious food that the whole family will love. It’s easier than you think and you can still enjoy the company without spending too much time in the kitchen. Afterwards, we love to enjoy an outdoor movie night or head to our local park for fireworks. It’s the perfect ending to our family summer cookout.
How To Make Grilled Peach BBQ Chicken Skewers
Soak bamboo skewers in water ahead of time for at least five minutes. This allows them not to burn quickly on the grill. Cut chicken breasts into 1 inch cubes. Toss together 12 ounces of your favorite BBQ sauce, plus one jar of peach jam with the cubed chicken.
Allow the chicken to marinate for at least two hours ahead of grilling time, but feel free to marinate up to 24 hours ahead of time.
Carefully slide the cubed chicken onto the skewers. Optional: add a sweet vidalia onion in-between the chicken for added flavor. Grill evenly for about 8 minutes on each side on medium heat. You should have grill marks on the meat.
Serve with your STOUFFER’S Macaroni and Cheese, plus your favorite vegetable for salad.
