I leisurely checked my email this morning and casually opened a Run Disney email, to almost fall off my chair!
The Disneyland Half Marathon weekend details were released and Run Disney has officially hiked the race registration fees, including the kids races! Since Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend is the first registration of 2016, I’m sure we can expect the remaining race registration fees to jump as well.
The new not-so-magical cost of Run Disney…
In my opinion, until races stop selling out, the prices will continue to increase. Run Disney races have become incredibly popular and runners want a piece of the magic.
But for some runners, this might be the breaking point. Dumbo Double Dare ends up costing Canadian runners $499 after the exchange rates. That doesn’t include the Active.com junk fees either.
I’ll continue to be a fan of Run Disney and it’ll always hold a special place in my heart, but I may have to hold back in the future. The challenges and multiples races per year might be a thing of the past now. Can you imagine the price increase on the Dopey Challenge?
Run Disney fans are already taking to social media boards in shock. I’ve noticed most of the loyal Run Disney fans, who’ve been around for a while, feel strongly discouraged by the price increase. It’ll be interesting to see what the remaining registration costs look like over the next year.
Let me hear from you:
What do you think of the race registration price increase?
Will it hold you back from registering?
