I’ve been daydreaming a lot about running races in far off destinations. I love how running gives me an excuse to the take the family on a trip or to get away on my own for a Mommy vacation. With this warm Spring weather rolling into Georgia, I’ve got the itch to sign up for some races.
I wanted to create a race “bucket list” to help me remember about all of the awesome races I want to run. If nobody eles even reads this post- I’ll have it for myself! Ha!
Kim’s Race Bucket List
This seems to be the ultimate Spring race, in our nation’s Capitol. I’ve never been to DC, so I’d love to sightsee, run the race and take in the city during Spring! It’s a lottery race entry, so it might take me a few attempts to register. It’s a popular race with an unusual race distance, but I love the 10-mile distance.
My friends are such enablers! One of my friends recently ran this marathon and she said it’s awesome. 2017 will be the 15th anniversary too. It’s walker friendly, you get a HUGE finisher’s medal & there’s food all along the course. They advertise it as the “race for every pace”. Enough said.
This February race, located in Florida, has become a popular race for the ladies. For one reason- a Vera Bradly finisher’s tote is waiting for you at the finish line! They offer events all weekend long with VIP experiences and the course is FLAT! I’ll run 13.1 miles for a Vera bag.
This one may need no explanation at all, because it’s in Hawaii. Another walker friendly course, this race looks like it has it all: scenic views, great crowd support and an amazing finisher’s medal. It’s the 4th largest marathon in the country, for good reasons! Post race Mai Tai’s are a must.
Located near Disney World, the Celebration Marathon & Half is a smaller race that runs through the quaint city of Celebration. You run through beautiful neighborhoods, on a flat course. With race shirts from Raw Threads and occurring during central Florida’s low tourism season, it sounds like a fun race.
This 5k looks like so much fun! Hosted by Track Shack Orlando and it’s a race for just the ladies. Everybody raves about it being well organized & you get a finisher’s medal. Bonus: this year, it fell on the same weekend as the Celebration Marahon (2 birds, 1 stone).
This weekend event, located in Tybee Island, GA sounds like so much. They offer 5 races from a 1-mile fun run to half marathon distance. You can register for all 5 races (26.2 miles) for $90! It looks like a fun family weekend..
Last, but not least- I can’t wait to run the Zooma Amelia Island half marathon this year! I’m on the 2016 Zooma Ambassador team and registered to run their Amelia Island race in October. This race weekend is dedicated to the ladies. Post race wine, running on the beach and staying at the Ritz Carlton will be amazing.
