On more than one occasion, we have found ourselves in the Magic Kingdom with long wait times for rides and we can’t possibly spend another dime on souvenirs without selling the dog. This past February, we discovered a new favorite park activity for those particular occasions. This fabulous FREE activity is the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom game.
I don’t think many park guests know about it, but it is the most fun we’ve had in the park without riding a ride or spending money. The interactive game is perfect for kids, teens and adults to play. You can play Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom game as long as you’d like or as little as you’d like. You can even stop playing the game and then start from where you left off on your next trip.
So what is the game exactly?
The game sends you on a quest around the park, as an apprentice sorcerer for Merlin, for clues to defeat villains that have taken over the Kingdom. Hades is the biggest villain that needs to be defeated, but first you must stop his partners.
To begin the game, you can visit a starting point such as the fire station on Main Street. You’ll be given everything you need to unlock magical portals and defeat these villains. This includes a “magical” map of the portals located in the park and your cards for the game. One card is your socerer key card that unlocks each portal. Cool, right?
These magical portals are perfectly placed in the park as part of the decor and architecture. Park guests may not even realize they are connected to a game.
We played for several hours and defeated a couple of villians. As we walked around the park to play, we met a few local Orlando residents who come to the park and play weekly. These gamers had TONS of cards! You can collect more cards each time you visit the Magic Kingdom. It can quickly become an addictive game. Adults and kids equally enjoy defeating the villians.
Even though this game is completely free to play, Disney World sells accessories that accompany the game. This includes items such as limited edition cards, binders to protect your cards and pens. We didn’t purchase any of the accessories and still had a blast.
Once we arrived home from the trip, I placed our cards into a binder and plastic protection sheets. Some of the rare cards are actually selling on Ebay for profit. Definitely check out the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom game on your next trip. You won’t regret playing this fun family activity.
What do you do when the ride lines are long?
