Special thank you to Disney for inviting me to Black Panther World Premiere. All opinions are my own.
It felt so surreal as I took my seat in the Dolby Theatre, just a two rows further up from The Black Panther cast. For someone who prides themselves on not being star-struck, the experience was more awesome than I ever dreamed. It was such an honor attending Marvel’s Black Panther World Premiere and I’m ready to give you ALL THE DETAILS. Here’s my inside look at the little piece of Hollywood that’s now one of my best memories ever.
Marvel’s The Black Panther World Premiere: Walking The Red Carpet
Well, I guess I can’t say it was a red carpet experience. We were immediately greeted by a purple carpet because the color represents royalty and T’Challa (The Black Panther) is King of Wakanda. There are crowds of people clamoring to see the celebrities, guests attempting to get autographs and you’re surrounded by bright lights. It’s orderly chaos and a taste of what it’s like to be in the limelight.
I took my time to stroll the purple carpet and keep my eyes peeled for celebrities. I was most excited to spot Angela Bassett and she looked stunning!
The coolest part was seeing the Lexus car that’s in The Black Panther. In the movie, the car was created using Wakandan technology. The stealth cruiser reaches super speeds and has the same agility as T’Challa. In real life, the Lexus is simply BADASS.
At first, I was slightly intimated by experience because it’s hard to take photos in the crowds. Eventually, I got a glimpse of what it’s like to be a celebrity. I could get used to the lifestyle! I traded my typical running shoes for black pumps and an “off the rack” dress. Surprisingly, Nobody asked who I was wearing – can you believe that? Talbots.
What Happens After You Enter The Theatre
All of the juicy stuff happens after you enter the theatre. Unfortunately, this is when they take your phones as well. Phones aren’t allowed into the theatre to prevent pirating and disruption.
You’re mixed into the celebrities and walking within a few feet of them. Snoop Dog, George Lucas, Stan Lee and Jamie Foxx were a few celebrity sightings. That’s when it dawned on me – I was going to see the film first. I am so lucky that I got to experience The Black Panther world premiere.
Marvel’s The Black Panther Movie
It feels like just yesterday, when I announced I was headed to the #BlackPantherEvent and now I’ve seen the movie! I don’t want to spoil any details, but the movie was phenomenal. There were unexpected moments and actors that stole the show. My full review is coming soon. In the meantime, check out the official Black Panther trailer…
