5 Healthy Habits to Kick Off 2017
Start a Daily Journal
One of the best ways to track your progress, with any goal, is to keep a journal. Take some time to yourself to write down your weekly goals and what challenges you face. Eventually, you’ll be able to look back and learn from the past mistakes. Find out what works and what needs to change!
Eat Breakfast Daily
Hate to admit it, but our Moms were right! Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It helps keep us fueled and focused throughout the day. Skip the bad stuff and reach for a spoonful of goodness with Post® Better Oats™.
The hot oat cereal has whole grains and chock full of nutrients, like protein, fiber, B vitamins and antioxidants. It’s steel cut oats that are ready to eat in 2.5 minutes. It’s also low on the glycemic index.
It’ll be my warm and hearty organic breakfast of choice for the new year. Try my fiberlicious snack recipe below that uses Post® Better Oats™.
Hydrate More
We all know that staying hydrated is important for our bodies, but do you know how much water you actually drink? Focus on drinking a glass of water before every meal to help you feel fuller and more hydrated.
Track Your Steps
Since the majority of us now own smart phones, why don’t we track our steps? It’s an easy way to motivate yourself to move more throughout the work day. There are so many free apps available to track your steps through your phone. Aim for 10,000 steps per day, which is the recommended daily goal.
Catch More Sleep
This one always sounds so easy, but it’s a constant struggle with me as a new Mom. The hard part is falling asleep. Try to turn off the technology at least an hour before bedtime and develop a relaxing routine. I love to use lavender essential oils to help me relax and read before bed.
If you’re starting your day strong with Post® Better Oats™, you can also use my recipe (below) as an afternoon pick-me-up snack idea. These No Bake Energy Bites are simple to make and a great option for quick energy. I make a batch on the weekends and eat a few between afternoon swim lessons and making dinner.
