Happy Global Running Day!
Lace up those running shoes because today is Global Running Day. Whether it’s one mile or twenty, running has always been good to me. It’s my time to clear my mind, self reflect or hang out with some of my best friends. Even when I get frustrated with my running, it always repays me with one of those “good runs” eventually.
If you’re new to running or want to start running, you should! No matter your age or size, you can start running today.I started running in 2012, seven years after my last timed mile in high school. I walked a mile from my house then build up the courage to run that same mile home. I didn’t need to prove anything to anybody. I just put one foot in front of the other, walked when I needed to and didn’t pressure myself with a pre-conceived time.
It’s that simple, folks. From that very starting point, I ran my first 5k. Three years later, I finished my first marathon. You just have to believe in yourself and take that first step. So let’s celebrate Global Running Day together. Even if it’s just a quarter mile, let’s get out and run. Your mind and body will thank you! From there, it’s only a matter of time before the “running bug” bites and you’re addicted.
