Since school is out and summer is on, our family is working on a bucket list for the season. Going to the movies is a must-do summer activity and it never gets old. Kids love the theater experience and it’s the perfect way to escape the heat. This year, it’s all about Disney Pixar’s Incredibles 2 which opens June 15th in theaters everywhere. The Parr family is back in action and I’m sharing why you NEED to make it part of your summer movie plans.

5 Reasons To Make Incredibles 2 A Part Of Your Summer Plans

We’ve Waited 14 Years

Can you believe the first Incredibles movie came out in 2004? It was like a different world – I didn’t even have kids! Fast forward fourteen years later and we’ve finally got Incredibles 2 arriving in theaters. My oldest son can’t wait to watch it. The Parr family is back and fighting crime as a family again. Check out this interview with filmmakers John Walker, Nicole Grindle & Brad Bird – they answer why it took so long for a sequel.

It’s All About Family

I love seeing the Parr family working together to solve problems, and not just the bad guys. In Incredibles 2, Bob Parr (Mr. Incredible) is left to care for the kids while Helen (Elastigirl) is out saving the world. They have an awesome family dynamic and that’s always great for kids to see on the big screen.

Check out this spoiler-free interview with Craig T. Nelson & Holly Hunter about their characters, Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl.

Your Favorite Characters Are Back

Obviously, we love the Parr family, but it’s great that Frozone and Edna Mode play bigger roles in Incredibles 2. I think Edna was a sleeper character that turned out to be a huge hit from the first movie. She’s got more attitude and style in Incredibles 2. Plus, she has my favorite quote from the movie:

Edna Mode: (to Bob) “Done properly, parenting is a heroic act. Done properly.”

Laughs For All Ages

Yes, it’s an animated movie and primarily for kids. Incredibles 2 is full of laughs for all ages though. There is a mature theme tied into the parenting storyline that adults can appreciate. I heard just as many adults laughing in the theater as kids.

It’s Great Family Fun

This is a movie for the whole family to enjoy together and everyone will have fun watching. It has something for everyone. Personally, I think Jack-Jack stole the show. It’s fun to see how the characters are growing up. Make it a bonding experience and go see it together – it’s the perfect way to kick off your summer movie bucket list.
