2020 Honda Passport Mom Review: Daily Driver That Gets The Job Done

There’s something our family has in common with the fairytale character, Goldielocks. We’re always on the hunt for the perfect size of everything we own. As someone who didn’t own an SUV before having kids, the larger options (like the Suburban or Tahoe) can be a bit cumbersome. I jumped into the 2020 Honda Passport, unsure of what to expect, and discovered it’s the SUV that was “Just Right.”

2020 Honda Passport Features That Make A Difference

Starting at $39, 991 for the Sport package, the Honda manages to beat the competition in pricing, while still delivering plenty of options that Moms can appreciate. The rugged look makes the SUV looks like it’s designed for the winding roads of mountaintops, but I think it has the most value as a daily driver.

Valuable Cargo Space

No matter where the roads take you, I love the amount of cargo space that the Honda Passport has. From grocery shopping to a cross country road trip, passengers have plenty of leg room without sacrificing rear cargo space. Plus, Honda just teamed up with one of my favorite brands – Amazon. You can now have Amazon packages delivered directly inside your Honda Passport with HondaLink® Remote Package (available on select trim packages).

You can also keep valuables hidden with underfloor storage options. I always take advantage and use that for holiday shopping or keeping the kid’s extra diapers & wipes available.

If you’re hands are too full, you can easily open the rear tailgate with the key fob in your pocket. You can access the cargo space, hands-free, by kicking your under the sensor of the rear bumper. I would’ve loved this feature when our kids were in newborn carseats.

Connectivity Options

Stay connected as you drive with the touch of your fingers. There’s an 8-inch touchscreen that puts your music, apps and settings all in one place. The screen also displays a multi-view rear camera that allows you to select the view that you need: normal, top-down or wide.

I love how the screen is positioned in the vehicle so you don’t feel like it’s taking your attention away from the road. BONUS: leave the charging cables at home, because the Passport offers a wireless phone charger tray that’ll keep your battery full while you drive.

The Apple CarPlay feature allows you to connect to your contacts, music and even photos. The integration can all be done via bluetooth.

Carseat Test With The 2020 Honda Passport

Have you ever been frustrated because you purchase and SUV that you think has plenty of room – until you add carseats? It doesn’t make much of a difference with one child, but with two it’s a big deal! Many times, Moms end up squished in the rear seat, between two carseats. If you’re trying to fit three across, it’s even more important.

We added two newborn carseats to the rear seat of the Honda Passport and tested out sitting in the middle. I can say we all sat comfortably between the two carseats without much hassle. There’s still plenty of leg room and room on the sides.
