The holiday season keeps me so busy and it’s more than important than ever that I try to stay on track with my wellness goals. Instead of taking an “all or nothing” approach, I allow myself a bit more flexibility from October – December. It’s really hard to avoid the decadent temptations that are all around us, but there are two things I CAN commit to: healthy snacking & staying active! See how I’m shifting my fitness focus this time of year with tips on healthy holiday snacking ideas.
3 Tips Healthy Holiday Snacking Tips
Wonderful Pistachios are one of my favorite snack ideas. I love the salty crunch and distinctive pistachio flavor. They are also Non-GMO Project Verified, Gluten-Free, Kosher certified, Halal certified, and vegan. They’re a great alternative to unhealthy chips, but still satisfy my craving for something crunchy. The different varieties of nuts, Wonderful Pistachios Roasted & Salted and Roasted No Salt, are dry roasted Pistachios with no added oil.
I’m always focusing on fueling my fitness and some may even call me a “Fit Nut” because moving my body is how I relieve stress. During the holiday season, I need that physical release more than any other time. Known for protein and fiber, Wonderful Pistachios are a smart snack. They’re perfect before or after a workout.
Keep Your Snacks Healthy & Filling
I like to ensure that I’m not skimping on my snacks during the holiday season. It’s important to ensure that I’m making time in my busy days for snacks. It helps keep me on track when it mealtime comes around. If I go into a meal, without snacking, I know I’m more prone to overeating. I like to “pre-track” my day with a diet log app. If I wake up and log my exact snacks that I plan to eat, I know I’ll stick to the plan throughout the day.
Wonderful Pistachios are full of heart-healthy** goodness! 90% of the fat in the pistachios are the better-for-you kind. That’s something that I can feel good about and enjoy without any guilt.
**“Scientific evidence suggests but does not prove that eating 1.5 ounces per day of most nuts, such as pistachios, as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol may reduce the risk of heart disease. See nutritional information for fat content.
Control Your Portions
While it’s very important to get your snack on, it’s also equally important that you don’t overdo it either. When you’re meal prepping on the weekends, plan out your stacks. I measure out pre-portioned snacks in portable containers that I can enjoy anywhere. If you have a tendency to be a mindless eater, the shelled Wonderful Pistachios force you to slow down while you shell the nuts.
Eat The Rainbow
To ensure I’m getting plenty of nutrients into my daily diet, I always try to eat colorful foods. You’re going to eat natural, from the earth, products when you eat a colorful diet. Wonderful Pistachios are full of antioxidants and they’re a beautiful greenish purple color. You can pair pistachios together with a raw vegetable for a well-rounded snack. My favorite pairing is Wonderful Pistachios Roasted & Salted + Sliced Red Pepper. It’s also such a festive red & green holiday snack idea.
