The following is a paid sponsored post with BODYARMOR Sports Drinks and Mom it Forward. All opinions are my own.
I can’t believe we’re wrapping up 2017 already, but the New Year is upon us. The New Year always brings a fresh start to my workout routine and training goals. It’s a time to refocus, set goals and prepare for success. As a Mom, that doesn’t always come easy. Many things, like a hectic schedule with my kids, can easily derail my fitness plans. My list of Fit Mom Essentials will help keep you on track for 2018 and beyond!
Fit Mom Essentials For the New Year
I stock up on notebooks because journaling has helped keep me on track with my daily fitness routine. From writing out training plans to keeping a food diary, notebooks are a cost-effective way to see where you can improve. Of course, if you’re a tech-savvy person, there are many smart phone apps available to do the same job.
Yoga mats go beyond yoga. They’re great for stretching, abdominal work and providing support under your knees with extra padding. Nowadays, you can find a yoga mat at almost any big-box store for under $10.
Recently, I invested in an interval timer and it’s been my favorite piece of fitness equipment. I can set intervals for running or set a timer for HIIT workouts. It’s a great option for Moms because you can easily toss it into your bag without it taking up much room. Try taking it to the playground for an on-the-go workout while the kids play.
Stock up on hydration gear while it’s on sale. I use BODYARMOR Water to keep my hydrated during my workouts. Keeping your electrolytes balanced is imperative for all athletes. I chose BODYARMOR Water because it has a performance pH of 8+ and a proprietary Sports Electrolyte formula, plus a wide-mouth bottle for faster hydration. Plus, it’s created by athletes and for athletes.
If you’re looking for something tasty, BODYARMOR Sports Drink provides all of the same benefits as the original, with only 20 calories. It’s naturally sweetened as well. It’s available in two great flavors: Peach Mango and Cherry Berry.
Both formulas work for me, as a busy athlete. BODYARMOR Water was launched in 2017 and comes in a wide-mouth bottle – available in 20 oz., 23.7 oz., sports cap and 1 liter bottles.
New Sports Bra
Who else is guilty of not replacing their sports bras regularly? A sports bra is one of the hardest working pieces of fitness gear that we own. Technically, a sports bra should be replaced every six months. Start your new year right and invest in a proper fitting sports bra. It will help take pressure off of your back too.
Smart Kitchen Tools
Nutrition is key for all successful athletic endeavors and it starts in the kitchen. If you prep your kitchen with tools that help keep you on track, you’ll be better prepared for healthy eating. My favorite smart kitchen tools include: Meal Prep Storage Containers, Food Scale, Spiral Vegetable Slicer, Measuring Cups and a Slow Cooker.
Proper Fitting Shoes
Take the time to get fitted for shoes. Local running stores can help see what’s best for your foot and gait. It taught me that arch support is important for my feet.
